I don't get that. I understand people using sniping programs, but the people that WAIT to bid I don't get?.... You have a maximum, it's not going to matter if you're beat before that day, or within the last 10 seconds.

Same as poker, people are willing to up the anti if given the chance.  So bidding on the last few seconds prevents people from upping the anti.
