So far.... not impressed.
« on: February 01, 2008, 01:09:08 PM »

About a month ago I picked up a 25th Snake Eyes MOC at a toy show for $5.00 (w/Timber).

For $5.00, I'd give these a chance.
Then, while at Stealth Vipers house one day, I was checking out the Cobra Troops.

At that point I decided there were some that I wanted for a loose display.

So now I own Snake Eyes, Firefly, Storm Shadow, Destro and Scarlett (Cobra Commander, Flint, Baroness and Serpentor will be here soon).

When I got Snake Eyes, I set him up in a pose I REALLY liked and left him like that. When I got Destro - same thing. Storm Shadow - took awhile, he didn't want to stand in the position I wanted - so I had to find another position. Firefly - useless. I had the way he stands - if his harness wasn't on him - I'd be able to stand him better.

So today I got Scarlett.

What a piece of crap this is.

1. She can't hold her crossbow properly in either hand.
2. Her "belt" is annoying as hell.
3. Her pont tail limits the position in which she can be posed or faces..

The next guys that show up better be easier to display.... because I'm on the fence of getting rid of them all right now.

I shouldn't have to "add glue" or "recut" a part of a figure that I JUST bought to make it stand up or hold a weapon should I?

Just not impressed with these last few... no sir... I'm not.

Some of the first ones really weren't that great as far as posing possibilities, but they are generally getting better as the line progresses.  The box set figures are hardly worth opening.

That could be my problem then.

Storm Shadow, Scarlett and Destro are all from the 5 packs. I "MAY" of found a fix for Scarlett in her posing... but it's 3rd way I'd like to pose her... not my FIRST choice.

I have to agree - the box sets were made with really crappy hands - the plastic was either to soft or not in the right position to hold the weapon properly.
Duke/Flint has even worse hands in my opinion.

I also had a hard time with Roadblock and Gung Ho - crappy hand molds.
I couldn't get Destro to hold his suitcase in his left hand without forcibly cramming it in!
Serpentor really had no leg movement for me because of his skirt.

What bothers me - is they improved the crotch so that it didn't look like a diaper.
however they are still re-using the molds with the crappy hands - I hope atleast they fix the rubber hands on the reused molds (dreadnok comic packs)

As much as I have complained above, I do still really like this series of figures, and would love if I could by a thrid set to display (one set for me and one for my son is all I can currently justifiable afford).
I also think with seeing how hard these figures are to find in Canada, they are either doing really well and my disappointment with some of the figures is easily overlooked by other fans.
     or
Wal-Mart/Zellers really never had many sets of figures to begin with.

What time was my first post?... Add 10 minutes on there. That's how long it took me to get her in a pose that I didn't mind.

I'm not happy with it... and I'd move her to the back or something instead of the front if I wasn't so scared that the crossbow would "fall out" of her belt AGAIN.

I don't have any "big poses" planned for the last 5 figures I'm getting.... yet...  :shifty:

I have only played with a Snake Eyes v2, but it blew my mind how hard it was to get the uzi to stay in his hand, and the trigger finger refuses to fit in the trigger guard. And I know there's a lot of love for the double knee, but I can't figure out a pose it allows that a single jointed knee didn't.

These toys look great, but they aren't as playable as Sigma 6.

I left all my joes in the battle pack.  No problems posing the 7 figures that were released in Wal-Mart.  What I hate are the battle stands, yeah its cool they have the logo and the code name but it makes it hard to put the figure on, the pegs are not positioned properly.

Flash's helmet barely stays on though.  Other than that, the posablility is good.  I like the fixed crotch Stalker I bought in Michigan.

Other than cutting open one of the Pimp SDCC Destros I STILL haven't opened any of the 25th figures... and I have damn near all of them so far. I just can't bring myself to open them... I just have no feelings about them that aren't almost complete ambivalence.

The only figures I've opened so far are the 5 packs and a couple of beaten up discount card figures (Hooded C.C., Storm Shadow 2, Snake Eyes ver I forget)

The only ones I don't want to open up that I have is my Joe Battle Pack and Pimp Destro, since we have the crapy carded single packs I don't feel so bad ripping those open
