F*CK.

Now I want them.

I've always appreciated them and enjoyed seeing them.... but now I 100% want them all. ALL.

Damn Hasbro. You actually did something right!

This coming from a guy that doesn't care for the new stuff.

Yeah, the comic 3 packs are the only "line" of joe I collect now. I do pick up things here and there, but the comic packs are the only thing I get all of. They are a great idea, and are really well executed. Bravo Hasbro!

It's funny how my expectations for this set are almost the opposite of what we're getting here.

I was most looking forward to a bare chested Sperpentor with removable cowl. The figure we're getting is a complete throw-away to me.

But the Firefly in that set, with menacing new head sculpt and v1 colours, is awesome. Who knew they could release the tenth someodd incarnation of that Firefly mold and it catch the eye better than any previous incarnation since the first?

I'm also big into that Scrap Iron. The Urban set Scrappy had some odd colour choices, like a black shirt with a blue collar. This one works for me, and can finally replace my broken-handed v1.

Storm Shadow is also superb. I don't get it, it looks like a straight repaint but the mold has detail showing like never before. Snake Eyes doesn't win me over, though. If you're going for a new head sculpt, why not base it on a later issue and give him the v2-esq visor? But I suppose you couldn't skip over issue 21.

The last pack even appeals to me. There's no way I'm using that Roadblock over v4, but I appreciate the head. Duke's definitely useful for a headswap if I manage a spare v1. Destro's the only one I'm not sure about. The studded collar is wicked, but otherwise it looks like a steel-coloured head, not a metal mask. And he looks upset.

These Comic 3-packs are still the best figures Hasbro's put out since the line ended, for someone who doesn't like the JvCs. It's good to know the line's been successful.

About 3 years ago I would've been more into this pack. As it is, I'd like to see new sculpt JvC style versions of these guys. There's something I really like about figs who won't lose their thumbs if you try to arm them and won't lose their crotch if you try to pose them and won't turn yellow if you store them in your drawer.

I'm hoping for a new sculpt Steeler and a true new sculpt Clutch.

Thanks to Realboss I have comic packs 6, 7 & 8.  These are pretty amazing and really show what the packs are all about (characters never before released, great headsculpts, specific-issue uniforms etc).

One thing I am interested in knowing: are Short-Fuze's legs a new mold?  at least the lower part anyway.  I compared him to my 97 SF and the lower legs on the new one are longer.  Also, the waistpiece...I know it is apparantly the OG one from 82 but...I remember them being even more bulky.  Like ugly, out-of-place bulky.  I wonder if Hasbro actually resculpted the lower half of SF's body to emulate the 82/83 look?  The left leg's thigh pouch is slightly different as well, with a bit more detail.  Even the bootsoles are different.  Hell, even the upper arms might be new...I don't recall any of the 83 retro-fits having the arm pouches on the side.  Unless I'm way off here, I think Hasbro was shooting for a strict '82 look (but with swivel arms :).
