LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Meow! Anne Hathaway has been cast in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” Warner Bros. announced on Wednesday.

The actress will play Selina Kyle, who is well known in Batman comic book lore as the human alter ego of the villainess who eventually becomes Catwoman.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” Nolan said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

Anne joins a long legacy of iconic actresses who have taken on this role. Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry most recently played the Catwoman character on the big screen, and Eartha Kitt and Julie Newmar are just two of the women who have clawed up the small screen as the whip-cracking feline temptress.

However, it is still unknown whether or not Anne’s character will indeed fully become Catwoman in this incarnation of the franchise, as there was no mention of “Catwoman” in the studio’s statement. It seems likely that Nolan will explore Selina’s backstory, as he did with Aaron Eckhart’s “Harvey Dent” in “The Dark Knight” (who was never actually referred to as “Two-Face”).

Warner Bros. also announced that “Inception” star Tom Hardy will re-team with Nolan to play the villain Bane, who is best known in the comic books for cracking Batman’s back and forcing him to end up in a wheelchair.

“I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies,” Nolan said.

“The Dark Knight Rises” – with Christian Bale returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman – is slated for release on July 20, 2012.

Ontario / PoC at TRU?
« on: January 09, 2011, 07:11:36 PM »
I was at the TRU at Markville Mall checking out the 16 empty pegs GI Joe display to see if they are going to put any of the TRU RoC exclusives on sale and that's when I saw it.   I saw a PoC Alpha vehicle on the shelf.  I pinched myself to make sure I was not dreaming and grabbed right away to see what it was.  They had the Doom Cycle from wave 1 on the shelf.  I rushed to the price checker and it scanned at $19.99.  I stated to check every inch of the aisle to see if they had more, but there was only one.  I went back to the GI Joe section to see if there was a price tag on the shelf and did not fine one ( they have may items that do not have a tag on shelf).  I wondered how this got here so, I thought the following:

1. They got a box of mixed items from the warehouse?  Possible...
2. They brought a case of Alphas in and they sold 3 of the 4 boxes?   Possible...  or,
3. Someone returned a christmas gift to the store without a reciept and they accepted it?  More Likely...

I hope they are finally bring in PoC, but I will not hold my breathe.  Everyone check your local TRU and ask!

General Joe Talk / Stephen Sommers Will Not Direct G.I. Joe 2
« on: January 05, 2011, 07:50:25 PM »
I saw this on the web:http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/113211-stephen-sommers-will-not-direct-gi-joe-2-

by Silas Lesnick
Jan 5th, 2011Other directors are currently being courted for the sequel
Despite some earlier reports to the contrary, it appears that Stephen Sommers will not be returning for the as-of-yet-untitled G.I. Joe sequel.

The news comes courtesy of the Los Angeles Times, who also claim that Paramount is searching for a new director for the action sequel which is currently in the scripting stages with Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick working on the first draft.

Sommers, who directed 2009's G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, is meanwhile said to be attached to the Dean Koontz novelization Odd Thomas.

Off Topic / Batman 3 has a title! THE DARK KNIGHT RISES!
« on: October 27, 2010, 06:06:09 PM »
I got this news clip from www.IMDB.com, here is the link to the full story: http://www.empireonline.com/news/feed.asp?NID=29317

Big news from the Batman camp in today’s L.A. Times: Christopher Nolan has revealed the name of the third film in his Gotham City trilogy. In July 2012, we’ll be queuing for The Dark Knight Rises.

Not only that, but in something of a bombshell, Nolan went on to dispell what many had begun to assume to be a given – “It won’t be the Riddler,” reports L.A.T.’s blog Hero Complex. So easy to get ahead of yourself, isn't it? Of course, true to form, the director wouldn’t reveal who it would be.

What Nolan seemed most interested in imparting was that he’s convinced Warner Bros. to keep telling his story in 2D, and to continue down the path of hi-def IMAX sequences. And he’ll get no argument from us on the subject – if it ain't broke, etc.

The post contains one other potentially juicy, enigmatic Nolan quote: “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones.” From here, you can go down two schools of thought – 1) This is a straightforward, non-commital comment. 2) You can subscribe to the oft-chanted mantra that "In comic books, no-one is ever really dead" – and we lost two big characters in The Dark Knight. But then again, of course, that doesn’t – to date – really wash with the realistic leanings of the first two films. What was that about getting ahead of ourselves? Pah! Tish! Etc.!

« on: September 22, 2010, 09:18:22 PM »
Not sure if everyone is still following the comics by IDW, but they just release GI Joe Origins #19 today, this is the special "Silent" edition featuring Snake Eyes.  It is a throw back to issue #21 back in the day.  I just read it... I mean I just looked at the drawings and they were amazing... they made sure to show SE in a true life mission.  I highly recommend getting a copy.  I hope to have Larry Hama sign it one day.
