What could have been!!
« on: April 04, 2011, 12:32:13 PM »

Sorry, I know what a pain this is, but I'm on my phone at the moment.

Head over to toynewsi to see a bunch of Joe items that could have been, including a Resolute inspired FLAGG!!!

Alas.......what could have been.

I think the biggest revelation in this images is that Hasbro clearly DOES listen to fans, because they would not have staff exploring items like a new Flagg Carrier without having listened to the constant hue and cry for such a toy. Yes, its clear the Flagg doesn't cost out in a viable way, but its clear to me that that they are trying to pay heed to our collective voice.

The FLAGG is truly inspired.  It takes the playset concept to a striking level, especially with the opening deck and front launch bays in the hull.  It is a shame they will probably never release one, but it is beautiful.

I really, really, really like the repurposed ROC Pit as a cobra mobile base.  Having a large rocket launcher and a deck that can fit 2 Hiss tanks with a bunch of missile pods shows what a little change can do to make an average toy into a great one.

Finally, on a personal note.  I don't get Hasbro's reluctance to do a crossover line with Tranformes and GI Joe.  They are both Hasbro properties so there is no licensing issue.  They have had apparent success with Star Wars and Marvel "transformers".  So why not Joe?  Make sure they are cross branded as "Transformers" and I think you would have a successful line.  Instead we keep getting just little teases like SDCC Starscream and the could have been Baroness/Ravage.

Hmmmmm!  Maybe in the future or maybe these are some of the things the Collectors club has in store for the subscription exclusives.

WOW, that FLAGG was awesome!  To have the runway open up to a Helicopter bay is HUGE!  Man I wish they release that!

That prototype Resolute Flagg looks like it's made out of foamboard... tempting me to make one myself.  Judging by the figure, this Flagg looks to be only about 3 1/2 feet long.
As for a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover...  I don't get the reluctance either.  They made a Snow Cat (in the Transformers Energon series) and mentioned G.I. Joe and Cobra on the packaging for Titanium Megatron, so it's not a licensing issue. ???

Meh, I'm actually surprised that I don't find myself loving this thing, but I don't.

Here I totally agree, at first glance from the thumbnail I was thinking new Rolling Thunder.

Anything involving Ravage is always a win.
The Flagg looks more "playable" and the size is more manageable. But the ridiculous size was part of the appeal.  ;D
