Scrolling problem
« on: August 18, 2010, 09:11:38 AM »

Is it just me... when I'm typing post (or PM) and the message is longer than the pre-defined window size, the window keep moving back at the top instead of following my cursor at the bottom.

I'm using two completly different computers (one with Linux as OS with Firefox, the other with Vista and IE) with the same behavior. I didn't have this problem before the site update.

Nope - it does it for me as well.  I think it always has.

If I'm posting a long message, I type it in Word and paste it in the site to avoid the jumping

I have no clue what you guys are talking about.

I use Firefox to surf, and just checked this site with IE. I see no issues... (Other than everything being underlined in IE)

It's not when we surf the site or when we read post. It is when we write a post. The box where we type keep going up while our message is at the bottom. Like other have said, it is very annoying. I am happy no to be the only one. Mike, while typing this message, I didn't have the probleme. But, if I keep writting, I won't be able to see my last sentence. I can write until the final dot before the problem occurs (that is 18 lines)  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -.

Wait... so you mean the white "box" that you type messages in when doing a post like this one?

Where there are these above the box:
 :) :wink: ;D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :- :-* :'( :shifty: :timbits: :cobra: :spidey:

?????????

Because, that's normal if it scrolls UP while you're making a bigger post... just a quick reply, nothing should go wrong.

THIS LINE HERE, is where things start to scroll up by one line.
Now another line.
And so on.

The message block this board format uses is pre-defined and regardless how much bigger I made it, it would still move if you typed more content than the space would provide.
It's a part of the board.

If you guys are talking about something completely different, then you need to describe it better.

Yes, we are talking about that box.

I will try describing it better with my limited non-GI Joe English dictionnary... When we type a longer message, yes it is normal that the scrolling bar appears so we can move from the top of our message to the bottom of it. But, the problem here is when we are typing, we don't see what we are typing. The scrolling bar keep going up (while we are at the bottom of the message). When we type, the scrolling bar should go down, following what we are writting.

Mike, try to quote my message and wrtite something. You will see (or in fact won't see what you are typing).
