VAMP Mark II (original Vs. Mail away)
« on: February 04, 2011, 06:02:47 PM »

Hey guys,

Which one of the VAMP Mark II (1984 original Vs. 1988 Mail away) as a greater value?

And which one do you like more and why?

Martin

Sorry Martin, What is the difference?  Other then maybe a couple mold changes?  I think both look great.  I guess this is where my lack of GI Joe knowledge has got the better of me.

I like both, however, I like the details of the original much better. The mail away I like for the color, makes a great desert vehicle. I unfortunately only have the orginal.

The mail away is by far worth the most, and harder to find.
I like both of them, and have clocked many many hours playing with the one I had as a kid.

I've also owned both since - I think Stealth has my mail away one now, actually.

You are right. There are not a lot of differences:
  • Original: Darker brown, while the Mail away is lighter beige
  • Original: Gas cans are new mold, while the Mail away has the same gas cans than the original 1982 VAMP
  • Few mold differences: lines, details, etc.

I'm thinking like you. The colour may make me switch to the Mail away version...  :'(

And when you say the mail away worth more... how much are we talking here  :shifty:

I prefer the original Mark 2 to the Mail-Away version. The main reason: the color and it has more details. I find that the darker brown tone on the regular Mark 2 goes very well with the Mean Dog.

As for the value, why do you ask Martin? Do you have one for sale  ;D ? I wasn't looking for one, but I'd be perhaps interested in one eventually. This is something that I need to see in person, to decide if to buy or not.

My favorite is the regular Mark II but I prefer the gas/water cans of the mail-away version! You will pay between 45-70$ for the reg. version in minty cond. but be prepared to pay a lot more for the m-a variant.. I saw them selling for 250-300$.. but they were sealed in their og. baggy! ..probably 100-125 for a MLC one, I don't know for sure!

I'm not sure about value of either the '84 VAMP mkII or the mail-away as I got them both a long time ago (still looking for a roof panel for my mail-away version).
Personally I like the mail-away version better, the light tan just looks more like the cartoons, comics and even the official artwork for the VAMP mkII.

What's going on Martin? I don't usually see you go crazy like this on Joecanuck! I must admit that I like to see it coming from you (I can hear you in my head saying it in french which I find even more funny)  Hence, you get 1 Timbit !
