I think the Replicators idea would have turned off a lot of traditionalists (like myself) that wanted to see  the 1995 "Battle Corps Rangers" return to military roots.
But there is a clear and definite audience for this sort of thing: the Lunartics and Manimals flew off the shelves!  Regular Star Brigade and Mega Marine figures were pegwarmers, but the monsters/mutants from the same lines were a hit for some reason.  So maybe Hasbro was on to something.

As a kid I had no problem with the colour schemes, the fantasy elements and the other crazy stuff that was going on. Star Brigade was a great way for me to load up my Defiant and send my Joes into space (aka the basement)

On the other hand, I did dislike the weapon trees and the sudden influx of repaints. (i.e. Firefly's lime/grey and lime/black variation or the different versions of Roadblock)

I think at the time Replicators couldn't have make it much worse.  It was already winding down.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

I agree. I was thinking this really isn't much worse than some of the stuff they did make (street fighter, cobra la etc.). And by that time GI Joe was basically dead to me. The line had jumped the shark long before this. So if this stuff had come out, I'd be fine with that. I just ignore it like I do the other stuff I don't like! :) As it is right now, it's an interesting piece of joe trivia.

I stopped in 1987. I couldn't stand the lines from 88 and on. More Hit N Run and less Eco-Team might have salvaged the line, but I think the toys were destined to lose ground to sports and girls!
I don't think Replicators would've had an effect. It was just more of the same weak stuff imo.

I have actually never heard of these, but I can say this.....good thing they didn't go ahead with it.
They likely would have been cool for the 5 year olds, but that's about it really.

Gung-Ho is my favorite..the helmet looks cool!

Agreed on that! I also like Gung-Ho's helment, it reminds me of those Cobra astronauts that you see during the space battle in the Mass Device.

Yeah that's true.. there's a Corps! figure with that same kind of helmet also..I'll try to find a pic!

Hey LJ,
I've searched the net and there's no pic for this figure anywhere??
..so here's mine:

Some pics of the og. Cobra Shock Troops from the MASS Device mini-series:
