Trying to get an old Atari video game system to work
« on: October 19, 2014, 03:09:30 PM »

So I recently acquired an old complete Atari video system. The red light is on when I turn on the power, but I get no signal on the TV. I'm using an LCD 40'' tv (modern era! LOL). And I'm also on channels 2 or 3 which are the only ones that the Atari would use. Is there something that I am missing? Please let me know if some of you had the same kind of problem and how you got around it. I am googleing the "How to's" and most of the sites I found call for repairs but I'm no hardware expert.

Thanks for your help!

Didn't those things have a switchbox/adapter to set to either the game or the TV?? Maybe you have to set the TV to an auxiliary mode or something?

After shopping for a Coaxial/RCA adapter, I am proud to announce that my ATARI has still got some steam left in its engine! And Zenith, all controllers work lol so I guess that'll have to be for another time: when I test my Sega Genesis Core system! Thanks again Kurt-eh for the very helpful link.

What games do you have for that? Back in the day my favorites in no particular order:

Sky Diver
Human Cannonball
Realsports Baseball
Kanagaroo
Yar's Revenge
Popeye
Combat
Frostbite
Air Sea Battle

I only have 6 games, they are:

Ms. Pac-Man
Centipede
Gremlins
Karate (widely considered as the WORST Atari title ever)
Battlezone
Moon Patrol
