Title: What's the longest you waited for a package from the US
Post by: gsmiley007 on May 27, 2008, 07:35:03 PM
Hey Guys

Just wondering what the longest you had to wait before a package arrived from the States?

I've ordered something from Small Joes and Corey has said it was shipped March 23, I'm still waiting.

Wow - customs are crappy, but not usually that bad.

I have had to wait 2 months once, but that was because it got caught up at customs and I had they wanted me to pay a ridiculous duty amount.  I disputed it and that ended up adding on another month to my wait time.

It once took 4 months for something to reach me-  and it DIDN'T Go through customs. When I checked the stamped date on the box - it confirmed it was paid and sent out 4 months prior - mind you, that was also about 7 years ago.

From the States, the lastest is three weeks from when the package was sent.

Over a month and a half.  and that was with tracking.  I had to open a case with Canada post so they would look into it mean while I followed it into Canada and it disappeared between Missisauga and my home.  CP blamed everyone else but themselves for the delay.

My experience has been 3-4 weeks for the longest waits. 2 weeks is about average for airmail.

I recommend getting a tracking number on any shipment inbound to Canada, if you can afford it.
My preference is to use USPS Airmail  for cost reasons--but it has no tracking option.
I've been lucky with Canada Post over the past many years, everything sent my way has arrived, even if it took a bit of time.
I REFUSE to use courier services like UPS or Fed Ex for shipping toys up North--because the brokerage fees are just nuts. There should be NO duties charged on toys, only GST/PST on the value of the goods over the exemption rate.
