General Joe Talk / Re: 2011 JoeCon
« on: April 05, 2011, 12:37:08 PM »
Turner, I'm sorry you had to go through all that trouble.  But this is the way of all cons, not just Master Collector.  Even Canada Joe Con.  If you went last year to Canada Con at about 6-7 am even hoping to get a Cobra Snake you would have been out of luck.  If you are going to a con, and you want to get the exclusives, you really have to plan ahead.  You can't show up whenever it's convenient and expect things to still be there for sale.  This con was worst than most as far as sellouts go.  But for those who say that MC were just looking for the cash grab, that's not entirely the case.  They were originally going to do 2x for regular attendees, and 6x for golden ticket since it was a multiple of 3 for golden ticket, then they realized they would have sold out of everything before about half of the regular attendees got through line on thursday night, so they shifted it to 1 and 3.

Was there anyone else sporting Canada Con shirts at the con this weekend?  I saw a joecanuck mod wearing one, but didn't see anything else.  I was worried that Savage might give me a grimace when I was talking to him at the panel while wearing one, but it didn't seem to be an issue.  I kept pushing the "GET YOUR PASSPORTS NOW"  message onto everyone who picked up a flyer at the declassified booth, so they won't have any excuses this year (like they seem to every year).

Another great comic.  That Pat Lee article was very well done.  I would not have been able to be as fair towards that guy if I were to write an article on that situation.

General Joe Talk / 2nd Annual Cross Continent Cobra Capture Classic!
« on: February 16, 2011, 07:28:35 PM »

It's a new year and a new capture season is upon us.  The rules are the same as last year.  This is basically a geocache hunt without the geo. I will try to give fairly good clues on the whereabouts but I wont have latitude longitude available. The figures that I stash will be in plastic bags and loose, as carded figures will be harder to stash and would get banged up anyway. When you find a figure there will be a code with him. You must post the picture of the figure with the code up to prove that you have captured him. He's yours to keep. Each person who finds a figure and posts a picture of the capture will be put into a drawing. This year's drawing is for a USS Flagg.  At the moment, the flagg I'll be giving away is missing a couple of pieces but i should be able to get it completed at Joe Con.  The drawing for the Flagg will be the same as last year at Canada Joe Con in June.

I'm starting the contest off tomorrow night so stay tuned for updates.  I'll try to hit areas I didn't get to last year.  The pacific northwest (including vancouver region)  and the southeast will be getting some hits this year.  Last year I tried the idea of giving out figures for other people to hide but that kinda flopped with only 1 of the 10 I gave out got hidden, so I'm going to stick to me hiding them alone.

Man, I'm going to have a busy two weeks.  I already was going to be best man at a wedding June 4 in LA, then booked to climb Mt Rainier on June 11, now I've got Canada Con on the other side of the continent the next week.  This will probably be my longest road trip ever.

So what was the tally for donations?  That looked like a lot of names in that bucket.

Donation sent.  Hope everything works out, and I learned something new today, had no idea there was this kind of treatment available.

Anyone else suffering con withdrawl?  Im already eager to go back but we have so long to go lol
ohhhh yeah, me too, total withdrawl.   2011 Canadian Joe Convention can't get here fast enough.

Speaking of which, given that US Joe con is now announced in late March in Orlando, will the Canada Con be returning to it's traditional first weekend in May?

wow ro you need some more shelves big time lol. nice collection and set up you got there.

I couldn't possibly put up anymore shelves.  You can't even see the walls in the three rooms in my basement.  These pics are about a year old so there's a whole other room now shelved up besides what's shown.

He had a blast at the freebie table also.

The freebie table was amazing this year, I saw boxed Alpha Wave 3 vehicles in there. Just awesome.

I've been wondering how many people here bought something at my table... I had one set up and two friends were watching it. I did very well for the day, considering I wasn't even at my table! lol

Where was your booth located on the floor?
