Title: Movie toy line thoughts/ideas?
Post by: canprime on December 13, 2011, 10:27:27 AM
So with the trailer released we get a nice look at what is coming.  The question now is what do you think/wish we will see from Hasbro?

Here is what I think/wish so far:

FIGURES

JOES:

Joe Colton - battle fatigues, civilian clothes
Lady Jaye - massacre fatigues, battle fatigues, civilian clothes, red dress (wishful thinking)
Roadblock - massacre fatigues, battle fatigues, civilian clothes, wrestling trunks (kidding)
Duke - massacre fatigues
Flint - massacre fatigues, battles fatigues, civilian clothes
Mouse - battle fatigues, civilian clothes
Jinx - training red dress w/blindfold, mountain gear (yellow)
SE - new look, jinx training, captured SE, battle w/SS

COBRA

CC - Escape CC (white outfit), standard outfit (blue w/helmet)
SS - CC rescue (no shirt), standard outfit, SE battle
Firefly - unmasked, masked
Red Ninja
Cobra Trooper
Zartan w/President disguise

RZA as Hard Master

VEHICLES

JOES

SE w/ Motorcycle
Air Transport (not sure which kind)
El Camino w/Joe Colton (what?  I can dream!)

COBRA

Water Moccasin w/Copperhead
Rattler w/Wild Weasel
HISS w/driver

So there are reports of the possible "preview" item up on Amazon.  Apparently it will be a 4 pack with SE, Roadblock, CC and SS.

Could be further confirmation of the shunting aside of Duke in this movie.

I just hope we get some really nice vehicles with new sculpts, as nice as it was to see all the vehicles in the trailer like the water moccassin, rattler, hiss scout, ram, I have a feeling most of these will be repaints or retooled versions of the ones we already have, which is ok, but I just pray for a few new ones.  The figures Im sure will be decent, Ill be cherry picking from those for sure, need me a Rock and John McClane, and Lady Jaye (drool).

You can bet it will be scaled back vs ROC.

We did see a hydrofoil in that trailer. I'm hoping for a beefed up version of the Water Moccasin.

That and more mole pods for Bandy.  ;)

I'm hoping for an array of medium sized vehicles at least that can carry a couple of figures, in other words "no alpha" vehicles.

I'm hoping that an updated mean dog will be part of the wave even if it's not in the movie. It's just the type of vehicle and playvalue that I'm looking forward to in this movie line.

Again with a shirtless Storm Shadow...
Seriously, someone at Hasbro really likes half naked ninja. So much that they even pushed it in the film.  ;D

I want a mountain side playset with hanging ninja.
I want a tube lab playset.
I want Snake Eyes' bike which will probably be the only vehicle I'll get.
I want an El Camino.

My bet is that we'll see those Captain America vehicle re-purposed for the  Retaliation movie line--even if they do not appear specifically in the movie.

Not up to me my friend. I'm no longer with the CJC staff. I'm just a regular member of the Joe Canuck community.  ;)

I definately want Roadblock, Flint, Lady Jaye, Joe Colton, Cobra Commander, Firefly and Jonatahan Pryce (President) as figures.  Jonathan Pryce would be even more awesome if it came with multiple heads so it could be a regular Zartan and the President.

I don't want a Duke figure.  There were too many Channing Tatum figures in the last line.  I bought them all and almost OD'd.

I think they'll just come out with 3 waves of figures.  Not like last time where it was 3 waves of 2 collections (the 4th wave never really hit here until TRU had it on clearance).

6 vehicles would be good.  2 small, 2 med, 2 large of 1 each Cobra and G.I. Joe.

I don't think that would be unreasonable for the line.  It would be small enough that Hasbro wouldn't be out too much if it's not successful.  If there is success they can just reuse some existing molds and crank out more vehicles and figures.

I hope the new toy line is successful.  Retailers may be gun-shy because of the amount of toys they had to put on clearance, but it did all sell.  Not a lot showed up at liquidation or clearance stores.

People will scream if we don't get a president figure.
People want figures in suits, it's classy... and pretty useful to recreate the final scenes of Revenge of the Ninja.

So Kokomo Toys has listed the early breakdowns of GI Joe: Retaliation toys.  Unfortunately it doesn't have individual items listed, but general info with case numbers.

Here is what they have:

GI Joe Movie 2 Blaster: Folding Carton: 3 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 Blade Of Justice: Blister Card: 4 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 Delta Vehicle Asst: Folding Carton: 2 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 10" Inch Battle-Kata Battlers: Platform Box: 3 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 Alpha Vehicle Asst: Blister Card: 8 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 Mask Asst: Box With Header: 6 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 3.75: Blister Card: 12 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 Bravo Vehicle Asst: Folding Carton Closed: 4Per Case
GI JoeMovie 2 Snake Eyes Ninja Set: Folding Carton Open: 3 Per Case
GI JoeMovie 2 Battle Kata Weapon: Folding Carton Closed: 3 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 Ninja Showdown Set: Window Carton: 4 Per Case
GI Joe Movie 2 Ninja Commando Blaster: Folding Carton Closed: 2 Per Case

Looks like lots of role-playing is in store, and of course a ninja heavy focus.  Here is what is interesting to me:

Ninja Showdown set:  Has to be a

OK.

Didn't know there was now a time limit for editing posts.  Weird.....

Anyway, here is what my thoughts were on what I highlighted:

Ninja Showdown set (Window box):  Has to be a 4-pack of SE/Jinx vs. Red Ninjas on the mountain side.

3.75 Blister Card:  Obviously wave 1, which will probably have Roadblock, SS, SE and CC.  After that I am not sure.

Alpha Vehicle (8/case):  This is going to be interesting.  The rumour is that the price is dropped a little bit from ROC, but they now come with a figure and vehicle on a card instead of a box, ala the ROC Target exclusives.  That really makes it interesting as to what could possibly be made.  The only one I can really think of is SE with Motorcycle as we saw in the trailer.

Bravo Vehicle (4/case):  Again, rumour is that this could be a smaller class than ROC Bravo, but I have to think that is unlikely.  I think the "Ripsaw" HISS pic seen recently is probably a good example of what will fit in this category.  Others have speculated that the hovercraft might also be in this class.

Delta Vehicle (2/case):  This is the biggie, ala Skystriker.  The far out rumour is a Night Boomer.  That is NOT a wave 1 choice.  The leading choice is the Rattler-esque aircraft seen in the trailer.

The far out rumour is a Night Boomer.

Where did you heard that rumor? I'm still willing to be GIJCC does a Night Force set in 2012 or 2013 with the night boomer.
