Title: ROC Figures at Walmart
Post by: canprime on June 26, 2009, 07:18:11 PM
SOmeone I trust has posted a sighting on another board of ROC figs and vehicles at the Walmart at Jane/Hwy 7 in Toronto (Vaughn).  Little to far for me to check out, but I trust the sighting.

Apparently in Quebec as well.

But are they pulling them off the pegs?

I checked all the local Wal-Marts this morning and nothing.

Someone from the Argyle location said he would not be putting them out until July 10 as he did not want to pay the fine....I told him the release date has been moved up the 4th (not sure if that mattered to him though).

Has the release date been moved?

I checked with Hasbro and they did say yes.  On the phone, their system shows June.  This applies to Canada too as per the rep.

TRU PCs are apparently showing 07/04 and I've heard 07/05.

I'm almost tempted to make the 2 hour drive - if I knew I could count on them still being there AND being able to purchase them.....

Only a week to go.....unless the retailers stick the 11th release date.

Patience, they will be slowly showing up over the coarse of the next few weeks and there will be plenty to go around.

Add Agincourt Walmart (Kennedy/Sheppard) to the list.  They had the same as Jane/Hwy7 this morning.  Back wall of the toy section.

Do you guys reckon that Loblaw's Superstore will stock these? Here in London I have not seen any Joes over the last year at all but lots of movie tie-ins like Indy and Wolverine.

Title: ROC Figures at Walmart
Post by: Storm.Shadow on June 29, 2009, 01:38:11 PM
TRU Kitchener had a single case of wave 1 singles out this afternoon.  $9.99 each.  I was surprised to see Toys'R'Us break the street date.  Perhaps they got tired of Wal~Mart beating them to the punch.

That is the only ROC related item I saw there (aside from the usual shelf full of dusty 3-packs.)

Assortment:
2x Duke (Desert Ambush)
2 x Snake Eyes (Ninja Commando)
2x Storm Shadow (Ninja Mercenary)
2x Baroness (Attack on GI Joe Pit)
2x Destro (Weapons Supplier)
2x Neo Viper (Attack on GI Joe Pit)

Did you run around to all the Walmarts in London? I was thinking of scouting out a bit in the next few days but not sure I should bother if there's none in the city yet. Woodstock's too far for me to drive for these.

Found them in Guelph.

I picked up 5 figures, but not the Paris Pursuit Snakeyes or Stormshadow I was looking for. :-/

They have a buttload of the vehicles too, the night raven, hummer and helecopter without blades.

for a pic of what I got:

I have a feeling that within 2 weeks we are all going to be up to our eye balls in Joe product.

Has this stuff come out in the US yet or has Canada jumped the gun again?

Seems like it's trickled out in the US as well.  As you say, it's going to be flooding the shelves and likely on sale in just a few weeks, but I had to snag something to satisfy my appetite for G.I. Joe.   It feels like a long time since we've had anything new come out.

No ROC toys in Argyle W-M London or Fanshawe W-M outside London.

I heard a tip that Sears in the Eaton Centre had cases out so I was thinking of popping into Masonville later, they have a Zeller's in there too.

The only stuff in the States I know of are the Pit $129.49, Night Raven $39.88 and Ultimate Duke for $88.88 at Walmart.  I think the Duke price is wrong(I hope) does anyone know?

Possibly to make us visit and purchase from different chains.  From what I've been told all TRU's (Canadian)  are going to be stocking the ROC in the next week or two and then putting up the Headquarters for Heros display with exclusives around the 22nd of July.

Walmart in Cambridge is dry. Either they pulled the stock, or were bought completely out. Either way it's just a space on the shelf.

When I first got there it was just thrown on the shelf over where with all the Bakagon (or whatever they are) stuff, looked like a return or something.  Anyways, I set it up nicely over beside the Transformers where people would see it.

That confirms a suspicion that I had. I think that they were out and then got pulled and that was just something that someone hid from the assortment before they pulled it.

Notice where there was a bit of a hole around where the remaining combat heroes were that were just stuff moved from other pegs. I think that that's where they were.

Is the H cracking down, or is this all a birdbrained conspiracy theory?  :shifty:

I had a hunch coming back to W-M after the holiday would be fruitful and I guess it was sort of. Argyle W-M in London had one case out, the boring Duke/Scarlett/Snake Eyes asst. I bought Worst Ever Cobra Commander and an Ice Viper but left the rest. Hasbro will have to a lot better than that if they want me to buy more Storm Shadows and Dukes. The Snake Eyes was sold, and I *might* have grabbed him, but he's also very over-represented in my 25th collection much like SS so I dunno. The only way I would buy more SS and SE without hesitation is if they put out 25th style LRRP versions.

Scratch Destro from that list.

Speaking of Destro, any else read his file card. What a pile of crap. His face was burned and he uses nano tech to repair his flesh but the side effect is it leaves his face silver (or something like that, cards not in front of me right now).

What's next, Spider man's web shooters will be built into his body?   Oh yeah.....

Storm Shadow, hit the Waterloo Walmart.

They have a whole end cap full of vehicles, 12 inch figures, toys for kiddies and about 10 rows of 3 3/4 inch figures. It's packed full. They set it out last night. When I hit it this morning they were still putting prices on it.

Tons of vehicles as well. They had 4 smaller vehicles, the night raven, the Cobra SUV and probably some stuff I'm forgetting about. This was a total flash back to being a kid again.

Went back to Walmart in welland with no luck - decided I couldn't wait any longer and went to toys r us in St. catharines.  I almost did't buy the Night raven  at ($59.99!!!!!!) but it looks cool so i bought it.

Is it true that toys r us will match prices at other stores and if so, how do I prove it?  (do I need to buy it at walmart and take the receipt and then return the other one back to walmart?)

TRU is pretty skicky about price match.  They want to see a printed ad almost always.

You can always buy them cheaper at the other store and take those back to TRU with the receipt (within 30 days I believe).

any chance that they had the Paris Pursuit guys or Hawk? Those are the ones that I've seen so far.

You guys have to pick up an ice viper. They are flat out awesome, especially if you remove the coat and have a "baggy pants viper". :-)

Not yet. There was 2 waves. The one with Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Duke, Destro, Baroness, etc and the wave with "Ripcord", Heavy Duty, Shipwreck, Zartan, etc...

BTW, the new Vipers look like junk IMO. Haven't seen the Ice Viper so he might be cool, but the ones I've seen just suck.

I quite like Neo Viper and Viper Commando. Not enough to army build them at full price, but they're cool.

The two Wal-marts in the city of London had no Joe displays, though the multiple Transformers movie islands seem to have gone down to just one, so maybe they are making space?

I don't think that TRU has received Collection 1 Wave 2 yet.  Someone had found them at Wal~Mart but a lot of Wal~Marts seem to be sticking to the original street date.  Hopefully that wave will be easier to find in a week or so.

I think you're right about that. The second asst looks much better, I am getting anxious.

The other day at Wal-mart I found the Ice Viper/CC wave but that seems to be a much smaller case asst than the big ones we should be seeing at TRU. Going by the cases Small Joes has up, that's my guess anyway.

Something's gotta give, the prices on display in my TRU is just shameful. I paid the 10 bucks a pop for the guys I wanted but I had to leave everything else, there just is not a sense of value at all, not at those prices.

They are now in full force at my local Wal-mart.  A whole display area dedicated to them, just outside of the toy section area.

I think the Ice Viper looks great.  Big and bulky like you should expect with all of that winter gear on.

But I do agree the Neo Viper I have is weak - not digging the design.

I can't help but look at these neo vipers and think how would I use them for the 25th line and to me I think I'd use them as frag vipers. Anybody else look at Firefly with the gunship and think Mamba pilot?

Argyle Wal-mart in London finally has a full display, taking the spot of one that was being used for TF2 crap before. The assortment was the same as Toys R Us in London, just about half as much stock. Still there was probably 100 figures, half a dozen Night Ravens and several of all the Alpha vehicles. No prices on anything so I let them sit.

I know someone had found these earlier so this may not warrant another thread, but Cambridge Wal~Mart had a single case of Collection 1 Wave 2 out this afternoon.  (Sorry morgardee, I grabbed the only Ice-Viper.  Next one's yours!)  Personally, I find it easier to locate something specific if there's a thread for each wave/assortment, but please feel free to merge this with another if you see fit.

Collection 1 Wave 2
Snake Eyes (Paris Pursuit)
Ice-Viper (Arctic Assault)
Storm Shadow (Paris Pursuit)
Cobra Commander
Scarlett (Desert Ambush)
Duke (Reactive Impact Armor)

I found a lone case of this at Argyle Wal-mart last week before any movie toys had shown up otherwise, and today I found a single peg with another case at Fanshawe Wal-mart on the outskirts of London. The rest of the early assortments are out at both with tons of every figure to choose from, in a display. I grabbed Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes and it's just amazing. Ice Viper's good too, but Duke, Scarlett, and Storm Shadow do little for me.

I am really anxious for the next assortment (Helix et al) to come through to stores, I've already got everything I want (at full price) from the ones out this week. Clearance time might help me justify a lot more figures but as is I am being darn picky.

Fairview Mall Wal~Mart (kitchener) has their Rise of Cobra display out.  There's an center aisle display (how can I get my hands on one of those displays for my own collection!?) and some more stuff in the main action figure aisle.  Looked to be mostly the wave 1 stuff that's abundant everywhere, as well as some role play stuff (a flash light, some wrist band thing, and the Snake Eyes set.)

Oh, and the vehicles...why is one little vehicle $20 when awhile ago I could get 2 similar sized ones in the same pack for that price. Outrageous.

Not in the KW Area.

Wal~Mart still has a ton of old stock so there's really no need to restock with newer stuff.
Toys'R'Us keeps restocking with C1W1 & C2W1.
...and Zellers....well, they just always suck.

I haven't checked a Sears store in a long time. You never know what you might find there.
Once the movie is out we'll hopefully start to see things move a little quicker.

Title: Re: ROC Collection 1 Wave 2 @ Wal~Mart / Toys'R'Us

I agree that they must be making trilingual versions of all the figures, it's just scary how over-stocked everyone is with the rather unspectacular early waves. It wouldn't surprise me if Zellers never gets any later ROC waves, I haven't seen any movement there, and very little at TRU. And when TRU has run down, they just put out more Destro and Duke figures.

I guess what's really bugging me is that some of the figures we've not got here already seem to be removed from forthcoming assortments in the states. It is also frustrating to consider ordering cases in from the US because I'd end up paying a fair bit more than Canadian retail per figure if customs hit me. Oh well, I can be patient. My real complaining will start if (when?) Canadian Wal-mart passes on the ROC exclusives... On that note, will Canada see TRU exclusives in stores?

Wal-Mart in Welland:  had the ROC figures for $5 as well.  Really picked over!!! (only selection was baroness, and 2 others). I picked up a Baroness - nice figure.

As a side note I pre-purchased my ROC tickets today for me and my nephew - I was surprised (not in a good way) that children and adult tickets are the same price!

Both Cambridge (as previously noted) & Fairview Mall Wal~Mart has singles on for 5$ each.  Nothing much of interest though.  There are a couple of Paris Pursuit Storm Shadow and Cobra Commander figures if you're looking for those.  Otherwise plenty of the usual suspects.  Those Vipers are really clogging things up.

Yeah, I was there on Saturday around 3 - 4 in the afternoon and all they had left has the vipers, Snake Eyes, and a few battle suit Heavy Duty figures. there was maybe 6 - 8 pegs worth. Then a guy brought out about 6 more cases and I helped him unpack them. It was all wave 1 again but at least the rack was full when I left.

So yeah, the sale is going well. Walmart was pretty picked over as well.

This is a good thing. Shows them what we are willing to pay.

Depends on the time of day, I think.  In the mornings, it's fine - by three pm, it's as if a group of kids ran their arms down the length of every peg and let the toys lay wherever they spilt.

Nothing's worse than Winner's

Walmart I checked out didn't have the sale.  Bummer.

Argyle W-M in London has it. It was very picked over, but it was in my favor. I've already bought all the good and great ROC stuff that's out in Canada, so this was a nice way to get Zartan, Ripcord and four Neo-Vipers to round out a squadron. The main leftovers were Baroness and Neo-Viper, but Destro was sadly way over-represented considering he's one of the great ROC figures. Mouth-eyes was sold out, as were nearly every one of the good guys aside from Breaker and the lone Ripcord I grabbed.

I'd gone with the intent of just getting Neo-vipers, who at $5 each is sweet. Not so sweet at any higher price.

Anyone know when they will be getting in the new stuff? I don't care about sale prices, I just want more of the extant figures to show up in Canada.

I ended up getting Baroness and Scarlet (in the gray cammo) since they were 5 bucks. But their head sculpts were so terrible that I ended up taking the head off the blue costume Baroness and giving it to the movie one. I also painted the green sunglasses black. Then, since I had an extra Lady Jaye with a hat I took her head and put it on Scarlet's body. I think they look a lot better now.

One of my wal-marts already sent back the GI Joe display and all the vehicles. All that is left is literally dozens of Baroness and Destros at 9.99. Not looking good.

In other W-M news, some joker must have returned some of their collection, I found an American carded 25th Viper which had obviously had a price tag removed from it hanging in Fanshawe Wal-mart. Funny how Neo Vipers are Army Builders and they are they are everywhere. I know part of it has to do with kiddies getting the movie figures but lets be honest, if these were Viper or BATS done in movie colours then we would have bought them up when they were $5.00 at Walmart or 2 for $10.00 at TRU.

Neo Vipers are just odd looking and I don't care to have more then one of them. For me it's the head on them that ruins the character.

Cambridge Wal~Mart restocked this morning with a few more cases of these same two waves.  It may be a bit early yet to be worrying about this, but the chances of us missing some of the future waves are starting to look pretty high.  Between Wal~Mart, TRU, and Zellers (and to lesser extent Sears), there's just way too much of the first waves sitting out there.

Just found the Dragonhawk and Crimson Hydra in London North W-M Supercentre. There was only one of each left. Really surprised me.

Wow, that is really surprising.  On the positive side we get to see some new product, but on the negative side does this mean that we've missed the Ice Dagger with Frostbite that is in the earlier revision?

They were the same price as the other Bravo vehicles, $28 and change. They were just sort of set on the shelf randomly and I only saw the two I grabbed.

I saw the ice dagger and dragonhawk at zellers and wm here in quebec, so I don't think the boat has been missed.

However, you are going to be dissapointed with the fig. The shoulder and elbow rivets are green, which looks odd since the jacket is white (the ankles are also green, and boots are black). I thought a prototype was mistakenly put in, but then I saw another and it looks like they are all like that.

Isn't it just a repaint Ice Sabre from the DTC line? Had the figure not had the flaws I mentioned above, I maybe would have picked it up, since the figure design is neat, though I'm indifferent about the vehicle. But the green shoulder and elbow rivets just stick out like a sore thumb since the jacket is white. After I saw another one and realized they were all going to be this way, that's what made me put it back on the shelf.

Argyle W-M in London has broken down the toy aisle and lost a row. The Joes have returned, in the form of asst 1 vehicles and some figures (Snake Eyes, Duke, Baroness et al). Nothing exciting for me other than it seems ok to army build Neo Viper at $5. It feels to me like it means W-M has no faith in these Joes and won't bother with the later waves if they are already clearing out figures for $5. Anyone know if this $5 move is anything other than a fast clearance?

They did the same same with ROTF Deluxe class figures.  They sold them at $11.97 (instead of $15,97) for a little over a month.  I think it's more of a way to entice people to buy the figures at Wal~Mart in hopes that those same customers will also buy the more expensive vehicles and such from them as well.

And I should add, if this was clearance I wouldn't expect to see so much space dedicated to G.I. Joe in their fall modular.  They would have crammed this stuff into the flex space.

London Wal-mart Report:

Argyle has almost all of C1 in stock at 5 bucks as well as a Cobra Commander, saw a Pit on the floor (literally, sitting on the floor) ten hours later it was missing
White Oaks has one Breaker at 5 bucks.
Fanshawe has one Baroness and I think I saw a Destro for 5 bucks.

When Walmart has an item at a flat dollar fee (like 5.00) it is either sale or clearance.

A regular price would be a .88 or .97

It's pretty frustrating to see figures I've paid for at $10 for half price but at least the fiver deal has brought my average way down per figure and it made me feel ok about getting the lamer ones like Breaker, Zartan and Scarlett. Right now I am just super-anxious to get the next collection in stores here, I'd pay 10 bucks easy no problem just let me at them~!

From the looks of it, the PP SE wave will be mostly assimilated into wave 5 in USA. Judging by the assortments we've spotted in Canada so far, we should get this lot with trilingual packaging...

I get it. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are popular figure, but I'm getting sick of seeing Roc V1 versions of them. ay to make future peg warmers there Hasbro. If anything this wave should have more army builders. The Neo Viper was ugly, but Ice Viper and Desert Vipers look good and will sell. Give us more of those.

Significant restock in the KW area recently.

Cambridge Wal~Mart had 3 cases of C2W3 and 1 case of C1W1 out this morning.
Waterloo Wal~Mart had 3 cases of C2W3 out as of about half an hour ago.
Fairview Mall Wal~Mart had 3 cases of C2W3 out late yesterday afternoon.

So there should eventually be plenty of this wave out there for everyone.  It won't be long that we'll be complaining that these figures are warming shelves and holding up newer product!

White Oaks W-M in London got the goods...sadly no Helix or Pit Commando but the rest was mostly there. Elite Vipers, Flash, Eels and TONS of PP Snake Eyes and his cohorts from that assortment. I spent a few minutes fishing all the stashed figures from around the Joe area so now they should be mostly all be back on the pegs.

I grabbed Desert Ambush Scarlett, as I've only yet seen it once else, and another PP SE to keep on the card. It was kind of annoying to find out I probably had opened a variant to fool around with, thinking I'd never find him again. Thankfully Hasbro is really moving along with these figures, at least at Wal-Mart.

Also at Fanshawe I saw another Crimson Hydra, only the second I've seen in London. No Dragonhawk or Ice Sabre.

I forgot to mention that Fanshawe had NO figures whatsoever, other than drivers, I mean. They had a very tidy area for six or eight pegs full of 3.75 figs. My guess is that they will have toys to floor over the long weekend.

Also: Flash and Elite Viper are wicked figures! I can't wait to find the rest of the assortment. My wife already got me a Pit Commando but I am compelled to buy at least ten of them, if they come my way.

How is that Cobra SUV anyhow? Is it really worth $30.00?
Title: Re: ROC Figures at Walmart
Post by: Kronz on September 08, 2009, 04:31:42 PM
The SUV is pretty OK. It is worth more like 22-25 I'd say, so wait for it on sale if you're reluctant. Worst part about it is that the gimmick launcher reduces storage space by about 75 percent, no back seat and the back doors and back hatch don't open. Otherwise, the toy is tank-tough and looks sharp. Nitro-Viper is a good looking riot-gear Cobra trooper, but he comes with pretty much nothing in the way of accessories, he may also be the 25th-style version of Motor Viper but there is a lot of debate over that.

The vehicle I have to wait for clearance on is the Night Raven. I want one (or more) but at fifty bucks it's just too much, especially considering it is pretty undersized. I am not gonna hold my breath on the good ROC figures clearancing, but I would say it's a safe bet that the majority of the vehicles end up cheap in the end. I just wish Hasbro would have made vehicles for the movie that were as uniformly impressive as the figures. Months before the movie I assumed I would pass on the line altogether, and I here I am now, almost preferring ROC to the 25th stuff.

For those of you that might be picking up multiple Night Ravens on the cheap from Wal-Mart, if you're interested in selling one of your air-viper pilot figures, I might be interested in buying.

Just throwing that out there.

Walmart St. Catharines had the new Zip bike figures two of each no price on them and not much else of anything.  There was no price tag on them at the time.

Waterloo Wal~Mart brought in another case of Wave 5 (City Strike Snake Eyes, etc).  There was one of each of the "new" figures left.
