I bought:
A Lanard kayak dude for my son to play with in the bath tub.
SDCC Blaster for $30. A few of us stopped and couldn't figure out if the price was right, it was, so I bought it.
Retaliation Awe striker from Hal for $10 (call it what you want, the date stamp say 1985, so it a black awe striker)
4 MOC Star Wars figures ($5 each plus free speeder bike) and $5 for a 12 inch Adavanced weapons tester figure (totally cool toy) from my Joe bro Bryce.
Extra convention comic (signed by Jay and Robert) for $10.
20 raffle tickets, at which point Jon "transferred" his luck to me.
Sooooo, I won:
The first prize of the day supplied by Joe Customs - Dollar general Duke, a lunch bag with ARAH Sgt Slaughter, Dress Marine Gung Ho and 90's Eel plus 4 little mini bags with bodies part like those from Slayer Design studios but this time a different company name, Theanglgeforce.com. Considering I spent a few hundred dollars with SDS over the years and never heard of angleforge, I think this prize went to the right guy. Plus I didn't own any of the Dollar General stuff.
Then I won an autographed copy of Mark Bellomo's Totally Tubular '80's Toys.
After that I won a 4 pack of 25th anniversary figures, which I sent back. I didn't want to seem greedy and the person that won it after me was a boy that was around 8 -10 years old. I felt really good about that.
Later on I won a T-shirt with Snake Eyes on it from ROC. I was going to send it back but poor Ryan had called a bunch of tickets already on this one and looked like he wanted someone to take it, so I did. It's too small on me and to large for my son. I'm sure I'll find a use for it.
I also won the last prize of the day, the banner for the show, but honestly I didn't have the room for it and it would just end up packed away, so I sent it back. I was very happy to hear it ended up going home with Ryan. He's staff and I think it would probably mean the most to him.
So I guess Jon's transfer of luck worked.
Now the real highlight of my day was Karma smiling on me. I was hanging with the one girl from Hasbro and putting on the stickers on the Ninja Combat Cruiser. We talked a bit about Joes, then comic con, Fan Expo, then our day jobs and general small talk. I asked her how she got into working for Hasbro, etc...I finally finished it early afternoon. Then I found out they were leaving but the girl looked at me and said "since you spent all that time putting the stickers on that Jeep Dave, why don't you keep it".
Yep, I got the Ninja Combat Cruiser for free and it's not suppose to be on the shelves for 6 months.
I gotta say, this so far is the best vehicle of the Retaliation movie for me so far. The best part is all the ninja logo's are just stickers so you don't have to attach them.
Oh, one last thing, when speaking with the Hasbro girl about Fan Expo getting their own exclusive toys, it has been brought up to head office in the US. They are thinking about it, but I'm left the feeling it won't be for a couple of years.
