General Joe Talk / Now I know...(post-GI JOE movie cartoon universe)

I didn't know about this until today about the fate of the Sunbow cartoon season three that never made it to production

General Joe Talk / AFA loose figures
« on: July 31, 2005, 10:39:29 PM »
I am taking this link from a thread I saw on yojoe.com

http://cgi.ebay.com/Cobra-Baroness-AFA- ... dZViewItem

In my view, is a low point in the collector commmnity.  Why on earth do you want a loose GI JOE sealed for?  Doesn't this defeat the point of having loose toys for display, play etc.?  Some people see that as an investment. Whatever.

General Joe Talk / WTF Comic pack #7 fetches.....
« on: July 12, 2005, 12:37:46 AM »
I figured 20 bucks would be ok for a short packed item. But this auction is gets a WTF.  US $111.38 for this pack?  Good lord.

It obvious Mike had an ounce of sanity when he bid for this.

General Joe Talk / New GI JOE items

I don't think Richard would mind if I posted this here

http://photobucket.com/albums/b120/singleguy007/

The Cobra Night Watch pack:   but I can't army build for a long time.  Something came up.

Bat 6 pack with Overkill (new sculpt): Not a fan of the new bats. But 10 bucks says there was a Bat theme plan for this year and they shoved most the Bat figures for this set.

The DD 3 pack: It's about time this pack I voted for was made. Finally, a new Cover Girl was over due.

Singles: Meh, I don't care about them any more.

Comic 6 packs: Nothing really new here as most of people knew about comic 9 and 75 were going to be released. Scarlett with piss yellow skis. lol .

The GI JOE Moray: Beachhead and Flint look like the figures released in the Night Force set. I hope so so I can pass on this ugly beast.

The Heavy Assult 6 pack: Is this a joke? This looks like crap.   No more greenshirts.  One set of them was enough.

Crimson Shadow 6 pack: The figures look ok but it looks like this CGs took a bath in motor oil.

Not impressed with the new vehicles except for the ROCC.

Overall, not bad for a line that was planned to be shelved.  But I think I am done being a completist.

General Joe Talk / Convention exclusives
« on: June 24, 2005, 12:46:19 PM »
Well MC posted this yesterday (I assume most people know about this) as it has hit other message boards.

http://www.mastercollector.com/neat/gij ... venirs.cfm

The AGP: looks ok.  Never cared for the original version.

The Iron Mech:  I hate these type of toys. Just stupid looking.

3 3/4" Steel Brigade Command 3 Pack (Gung Ho, Dragonsky, and Steel Brigade Commander):   These are very nice looking figures.

3 3/4" Steel Brigade Trooper 2 Pack: Not bad.  Better than the skinny garbage that was released back in 1987.

3 3/4" Steel Brigade Skyhawk 3 Pack: Those look good.  But where are the guns?

3 3/4" Hydrofoil with Blue Cobra Deck & decals: This one doesn't make any sence as how does it fit in with Destro and his IGs?  This must have been a backup as I do remember reading that a Condor was suppose to be apart of this years set.  This Moray should have been released a few years ago with the Anaconda set.  And based on the mountain backdrop, it smells like Cobra Island.

Postives: The Joe stuff looks very good and fits into a single theme.

The Bad: These vehicles for Destro AGP and the Iron Mech are week. I think I am going to keep my Bat APC and give it to Destro guys in this set.

The Ugly: The price tag. 233 US for all the extras.  Come on.  I bought the arguement last years exclusives were expensive because it was in Disney World. But this year it's in MN.  Last years stuff was 195 US.  Just shakes his head.

This has been posted on ebay.  Pictures borrowed without consent (like I care) considering the figures are probably stolen to begin with.

I hope this means where getting that Ripper, Buzzer and Trasher comic  pack.  :D

Off Topic / Canada Customs = anal
« on: June 12, 2005, 04:05:20 PM »
How many guys here actually knew that Americans were required to have the receiver's name and address in capital letters?  I didn't.  I got an email from an American earlier in the week stating that he got a letter from Canada Post.  In brief, the letter stated the package he sent to me from NJ could be returned back because my name and addy wasn't in capital letters.  WTF.  It's bad enough the government wastes my tax money but to actually reach this level is pathetic.  Who gives a rats ass if my name and addy is in capitals or not. This is 100% anal. When I am in Ottawa next year, I know where there money pit office is as I do an annual building inspection there. They better have an explanation on why they are wasting taxpayers money on something this dumb.

After some research...

News Release No. 04-069

Marking it 'Not Admitted':
CANADIAN OFFICIALS STRICTLY ENFORCE CUSTOMS, ADDRESSING REQUIREMENTS FOR INBOUND INTERNATIONAL MAIL

WASHINGTON, DC -- The U.S. Postal Service is alerting customers mailing items to Canada they must comply with strict Canadian Customs and postal administration addressing requirements.

All postal items (except postcards) that do not display the complete name and address of both the sender and the recipient -- in roman letters (A, B, C) and Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3) -- are being denied entry into Canada. Sender or recipient identification such as "Grandma" or "Aunt Ruth" are not acceptable and are among the causes of mail being returned.

According to Canadian officials, this action is pursuant to the Canada Customs Act and reflects heightened security measures.

Accordingly, addresses to recipients in Canada should be printed in ink or typewritten in capital letters, and the last line of the address must show only the country name, written in full, and in capital letters. When a Canadian postal delivery zone number is included in the address, mailing requirements allow that number to appear as the last line of the address.

Customers also are reminded that complete and legible customs declarations -- along with required import documentation -- must be provided to specifically identify the contents of any package. General descriptions such as "gift" or "present" are not acceptable.

Canadian Customs offices report a backlog of incoming postal items containing incomplete or inaccurate information. According to Canadian officials, these items eventually will be returned to their points of origin for correction by the sender as soon as practical.

Off Topic / Ah crap....I have been sucked into the Dark Side (ROTS)
« on: May 27, 2005, 03:19:50 PM »
A couple of weeks ago, I bought my first Star Wars toy. A ROTS Darth Vader. I figure he would be cool to have since I don't have any Star Wars figures.  I could go and by an original one but that would lead me down the garden path to get them all. I rather not considering I am not a huge enough fan.   The power of the force is not that strong or is it?

This past weekend, I made a stop to TRU to find a Vader talking toy for Madman.  My worst fear happened.  I found 7 clone troopers.  That blasted GI JOE army building bug I have for cool figures manifested once again. I must have stayed in the TRU store for an hour debating whether to get them or not.  I got them in the end.  I felt like those scalpers without a life on this day.  It wasn't a good feeling, especially when kids where in the display area.  In the end, I figured Vader needed some company.  I also got a couple of free Yoda TRU exclusives so that was a bonue.

Yesterday, I made another stop to a TRU to try and round out the Clone number to 10.  Seven was a weird number for me.  I only found two but also picked up a couple of Clone Commanders.  How many of these guys are there? Is there a Clone janitor figure that I don't know about. lol . At least some sanity prevailed as I left the other 3 Clone commanders behind.  At 10 bucks a pop these guys are not cheap to army build.

I have yet to open the packages.  I am giving myself time to decide if I really want them or this was just a spur of the moment type of deal. I am sure I wouldn't have a problem getting rid of the Clone Troopers down the road.

So who else has been sucked into collecting something they didn't expect?
