Code Name: H.A.G.A.R.
(Heavy Armament Guided Attack Robot)
Expect our 3rd figure reveal THIS Monday, July 9th!
-
Beautiful!!
-
Glad to see someone found a good use for that ROC Neo Viper torso.
Is that a new head sculpt?
And are those guns detachable (or even swappable with other weapons - A man can dream, can't he? ;) )?
Based on H.A.G.A.R.'s color scheme, I assume he is a creation of Cobra North.

That's two right over the centre field fence! Can't wait to see the rest of the set! Great job guys!
-
Okay, that head sculpt, is sick.....SICK. Well done.
It reminds me of an old Star Wars figure from my youth...not sure, which one....now I have to look.
Big fan of this one.
-
Well that I wasn't excepting. It's got an "O" ring figure in the set. I'm still a fan of the old "O" ring and am happy to see it represented in the set.
Removing the antenna off the Valor vs Venom Cobra BAT (V4) helped remove the "grasshopper" look of the head and made it look more like Ultron from the Avengers.
The use of the Neo Viper web gear helps to hide the overall look of the Valor vs Venom torso.
The arm attachments make a nice change to the figure. I can't place them so right now I'm going with the assumption these are new pieces. It looks like the guns are built right into the arms. Is there hands under the barrels?
-
Maybe Jungle BAT for the hands?
-
I love the armor on this battle android trooper. It makes it the most fearful android that I know in the entire joe multi verses. The size on those gun barrels will make gi joe think twice about getting in the way of the enemy fire.
Curiously I have to ask but I remember that someone submitted an android character for the create your joecanuckverse character contest. Is this an idea that you decided to recycle? Or was the contest entry simply an eccho to an idea that the CJC team were already contemplating?
-
Are those old school BAT V4 feet? Very nice use of parts there.
-
... made it look more like Ultron from the Avengers.
Nice call. Love it btw.
Too bad there aren't multiples to army build.
I'm going to chrome mine...

Parallel idea. I'd actually forgotten there was an android submission.
-
well DOne
-
A Canadian BAT? I would like to have more than one.
Great Job guys!
-
You guys will find out soon enough : H.A.G.A.R. is not a BAT. He's a robot... Not an Android. ;)

Look earlier (page 1?) in the Q & A thread that you posted in. Unless that's misdirection/misinterpretation, but seems a pretty clear 'no' to me.
-
Neat. Is the fig made up completely of the VvV BAT with new arm attachments and the ROC viper armor?

Yup, found it in the meantime. Sorry, my bad.

So sure are you. A Droid, he could be, mmm? ::)
-
I assume that becuase he is a Robot vs an Android is that he will have an AI on him so he will be an actual character instead of being a mindless drone. So that is why it is not army built.
-
would'nt android imply more intelligence than being a robot? Industrial car painting machines are robots. Data (star trek) is an android.
Still, cool figure, definetely looks powerful.
-
I have to admit that I was feeling a bit lukewarm on the look of the first reveal aside from his awesome code name, BUT this reveal TOTALLY does it for me!
The mixing of "O-ring" and "Swivel-chest" in the same box set is very intriguing.

either Larry Hama got it wrong with the BATs or Did Star Trek? I know the Trekers will say it was Hama. I guess when we read it's filecard we will know the Truth!
-
I thought the droid vs robot just meant appearance...
Both are machines but androids appear to be human at casual glance (i.e. Data, Ash/Bishop/Cole/David from Aliens, etc.) while robots are obviously machines.

An android is a robot[1] or synthetic organism[2][3][4] designed to look and act like a human, and with a body having a flesh-like resemblance.[2] Although "android" is used almost universally to refer to both sexes, and those of no particular sex, "Android" technically refers to the male form, while "Gynoid" is the feminine form. Until recently, androids have largely remained within the domain of science fiction, frequently seen in film and television. However, advancements in robotic technology have allowed the design of functional and realistic humanoid robots.
from wiki.
A robot is a mechanical or virtual intelligent agent that can perform tasks automatically or with guidance, typically by remote control. In practice, a robot is usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by computer and electronic programming. Robots can be autonomous, semi-autonomous or remotely controlled. Robots range from humanoids such as ASIMO and TOPIO to Nano robots, Swarm robots, Industrial robots, military robots, mobile and servicing robots. By mimicking a lifelike appearance or automating movements, a robot may convey a sense that it has intent or agency of its own.
so, unless HAGAR's a cyborg, he's an android.
-
Never mind.
*** Looks like Sundance had the same idea as me and beat me to the punch ***

..but he certainly doesn't have a "flesh-like appearance"....I think your quotes support the opposite conclusion.
-
neither do BATs, but they're still robots designed to look and act human.
-
Your 2nd point hits it Sundance.
Besides... Who is Involved with the bio, comic and figure and would know?
Yeah....
ROBOT
-
Very cool robot. Glad to see some new sculpt BAT parts being used.
-
Very nice use of parts! Love the gatling gun arms on this Guided Attack Robot...
Wait, guided? As in guided with a remote control like a PAC/RAT?!
-
That"s probably what The Mike means by robot. it has no AI at all, but is radio-controlled. Would avoid the problems often found on BAT filecards where they attack each other or are otherwise confused.
Vulnerable to things that disrupt radio waves, such as haywire explosions, but I guess normal bats would'nt fare too well against these anyway.
-
Loving the weapons here. Looks intimidating.
-
What does H.A.G.A.R. stand for anyway?

Now that's a cool idea. Send them to chrome tech USA. It might cost you a few bucks but that really would look good. Leave the barrels silver and paint the base (part that attaches to the arm) black so if all fits together and that would turn some heads.
