General Joe Talk / Re: Price increase for figures in Canada.
« on: February 14, 2012, 07:32:44 PM »
I just saw the first wave of the 30th at WalMart....so there is some new products.

As I said in the Quebec thread, it should not be suprising as TRU and Zellers have been selling joes for $9.99 for quite some time. Wal-Mart just finally caught up. Looks like figures will be $10.99 at TRU and Zellers. $1 increase really...still a shock to see something go from $7.92 to $10.77.

But the reality is the price of toys and action figures will continue to go up. Eventually you reach a breaking point for parents and collectors where that's the difference between buying or not.

I saw them on the pegs too...I had to do a double when I saw new joes then a triple take when I saw the price...that's $12.38 a figure with tax included.

It's not too surprising. I mean joes have been $9.99 at TRU and Zellers for ages, and WalMart has finally caught up with pricing. I'm guessing $10.99 moving forward at TRU and Zellers.

Many toylines have seen hikes in pricing. Prices are not coming down. This is the trend I've noticed.

Prices of action figures continue to rise to a point where parents no longer want to drop down the cash for these type of items unless its for Christmas or a birthday. Videogames are a better option in terms of longeivity. It's hard to buy an action figure that a kid will lose interest in a week or two.

I don't think we will be seeing anything at retail until the movie stuff hits, which is pretty sad.

We missed out on the whole 30th stuff.

Good thing for local hobby shops.

For Sale or Trade / 2000-2002 collector's edition complete collection
« on: January 15, 2012, 01:21:33 PM »
I'm currently debating if I should part with my 2000-2002 complete collection which is all sealed MOC on US cards. I've got the collection loose as well and that I'm happy to keep. The only thing missing is the man o'war submarine.

Just wondering if there's any interest. Preferably, I would like to sell it all together, but if there's enough interest for for most of the pieces I'd consider breaking it apart.

Here's what I got:

Two Packs

Wave1:
General Tomahawk & Dial Tone
Law & Dusty
Cobra Commander & Chameleon
Firefly & Undertow (peg hole)
Firefly & Undertow variant (peg)
Snake Eyes Vs.Storm Shadow

Wave2:
Big Ben & Whiteout
Duke & Sidetrack
Major Bludd & Rock Viper

Wave 3:
Cobra Commander & Laser Viper
Wet Suit & Wetdown
Crossfire & Double Blast
Destro & Fast Blast Viper
Destro & Fast Blast Viper variant Destro Filecard
Low Light & Sure Fire

Wave 4:
Big Brawler & Tripwire
Gung Ho & Leatherneck
Zartan & Shadow Viper

Wave 5 (online exclusive):
Serpentor & Shock Viper
Shipwreck & Sidetrack
Tomax & Xamot
Lifeline & Sideswipe

I also have 2 sealed cases of wave 5 which contain 3 complete sets each.

Vehicles:
Locust w/ Wild Bill
H.I.S.S. III w/ Rip-It
Wave Crusher w/ Sub Viper
AWE Striker w/ Pathfinder
Desert Striker w/ Flint
Headquarters w/ Rock n Roll
NLC w/ Cutter
Night Rhino w/ Dusty

These have been stored away in a smoke free and pet free home.

I think the prices are $7.92....that's the price I saw them at on the pegs...but I could be wrong. I didn't bother to verify that they were actually placed on the correct pegs...with the over abundance of wave 5 that we received...there was no interest to look through them.

General Joe Talk / Re: Toy Swapping Scumbags
« on: January 15, 2012, 12:55:24 PM »
This is a topic that always gets me steamed. I honestly don't think there is a real solution to it.
1) These individuals working at retail lack the knowledge....we are collectors so we know what we are looking at
2) People will complain to no end just to return stuff and if you are working there, you just want to get rid of this person
3) There's just so much variety of toys and it's not like returning a microwave....the person working there most times does know the difference between darth vader and robocop. Once a buddy and I were at WalMart and he wanted to buy a joe pack that had a fig missing. We went to the service center to see if they could do something for him and the lady told her manager that "the darth vader figure was missing"
4) I tend to think most swap outs and theft are from lame adults...and there's no way to get rid of them
5) As arrow pointed out, unless you are a collector you don't always know what is missing or what has been swapped. So if you are a parent or even a child receiving the gift, you don't always know. So, eventually these things just get sold.

The WalMart and Zellers closest to my work always has swapped figs and accessories. But even worse is the constant theft I see there. I actually see this at all WalMarts and Zellers. Every time I pass by these places all I see in the toy aisles are ripped open packaging just laying there and this is across all toy lines...hot wheels, lego, transformers, marvel....even that line with the skateboards.

If people want to risk getting arrested for stealing $10 or even $2...oh well.

My brother bought a huge lego set for my nephew and some douche stole all the figs and resealed it and returned it. It obviously was not a accident at the factory as the bags inside were ripped open to get the figs.

My guess is a lot of the new tooling for these waves will be reused for the movie line. As arrow said Hasbro's not going to invest in the tooling to only use one time....they're going to milk these babies.

I have no idea why Hasbro went back to 1 set and carry over for the last two waves....makes them that much tougher to get...even more so for those who want multiples.

I have a feeling Hasbro's going to use stormy's tooling for the red ninjas or ninja type figures in the movie line.

Thanks for sharing. Amazing. I love the items in the last two pics....what's the release date and price... ;D  ;D  ;D

Saw some armour cycles and hiss scouts at a Zellers...so they have officially hit here in Quebec. So, they are to be found for those who missed them at Winners.

The price is steep, but that's only because some of us were spoiled by Winners, otherwise I think we'd all be paying for them at that price.

Thanks for the invite LJ, I'd love to join as well, but late nights at work will keep me from joining. Weekends usually work best for me. Hopefully, I'll be able to get to the next one.

Thanks again for the CJC crew for putting on a great show. Definitely appreciate the time and resources to make this all happen.

I didn't pick up too many things this year, but just to see all the familiar faces and having a chance to catch up or at least small talk with most was worth the trip. It was a busy day indeed, so apologies if we couldn't chat longer.

It was great to be able to meet and speak with Mr. Rudat, pick up James' book and some artwork from Loop.

The Quebec crew did get together for dinner as stated earlier.

I know the CJC crew also went to dinner as well, but I didn't want to feel as if I was intruding, since I'm sure you all had a long day and probably wanted to reflect up on it. So, I just said my thanks and goodbyes.
