I saw the pic of the Viper for this line.

Not a promising look.  It was pretty much the new "Chrome" Viper from the boxset in fancy gold packaging surrounding the usual card.  It also will apparently be more than $10 US becuase of it.

There needs to be some new or interesting paint schemes, otherwise this line will stagnate like the VOTC line in SW.

So these are re-packs, like the SW Saga Legends?

This has been on Hasbro's own site for some time.

I need pictures before I can give any thoughts on this.

Well now that I've seen a picture I can give my 2 cents.

Meh.

I don't need these. If I see them locally then I might pick some up but unless it's something new, I don't really need them.

Wait, I just saw the BAT figure. What's that extra gear he comes with? Is this the battle damage BAT? I guess I'll need one of him.

This is going to be a fail for Hasbro.

I'm not saying that out of some hope (I'm a completeist for 25th), but rather, that the reaction has been overwhlemingly "MEH" from the boards.

First, they are mostly just reissues with what appear to be cosmetic changes.  Some, like Flint & Viper are actually the most accurate/perfect rendition of the character to date.  So great, but the majority are just updates with no real sense of change to the toy.  Yes they have different body parts in some cases, and yes they were voted on by us.  However, we were told they would have new/different decos and in most cases those decos are minor changes that really don't improve the figure to a point where they are a "must have."  Oh, and don't get me started on those god awful stands.  That colour is awful.  There are many different subgroups that could have had new members added through repaints, or new groups entirely (Night Force, Night Watch CG, etc.)

Second, packaging.  I will hold off a bit until we get shots of the back of the boxes, the excess packaging is nice, but a waste.  I think that it was good idea in theory, but in practice it falls short.

Third, PRICE!!!  OUCH!!  So it looks like we are talking about what, $11 US each figure.  If you buy a case.  Are sites going to be willing to break up cases to sell individual figures?  What price then?  How many of us up here are willing to spend approximately $14-$16 each?

Overall it seemed like a nice idea at the time, but the length of time to execute this has severely hurt the prospects of this being a good seller.  Every figure has already had at least 2 releases already in some form, and most are not different enough to warrant the extra expense.  Also, the character selection, while chosen by us, is fairly weak now after 6 months of new releases.

Thank you Hasbro (honestly) for this, but I think I now better understand why these kind of situations are not really worth doing for large companies.

Totally agree canprime. I may pick up one or two of these, but I'm not going out of my way, especially if the cost is as bad as I believe it will be.

I'll probably get one to keep in the package. Not sure which it will be but it depends if I'll ever see them in stores. Basically they made a single figure cost as much as a comic pack and told us it was special...I think it would have been better to do a single card like the 25th but in gold foil or something and keep the cost down. That way this is a "get the figures you missed the first time" event. Which is what I thought it was supposed to be.

www.target.com  (http://www.target.com ) has 8 of them up for pre-order with pictures.  No BAT or Black Snakeyes.

Yea, I agree with you. I think these would have been better offered as a "catch-up" wave than something that is supposed to be arbitrarily "commemorative" after some bizarre fashion. These offer very little in the way of being new or different, outside of a few different accessories and paint. There is nothing much to justify the higher cost.
If they'd trimmed the cards in gold as you suggested, and stuck to the single card price point-I've have bitten on a few of these--but glossing them up and tacking on a bigger price tag--uh-uh. Not interested, thank you.

I'm not a fan of the Gold packaging, I don't think it goes very well with the GI Joe look. As well, from the pictures, are these just regular single packed figures, put in a small display case? ugly!

SmallJoes put them up for preorder...and of course the BAT is nearly $20. Ridiculous.

I will pass on the entire series and instead get the two new box sets which are less redundant for me and 1/2 or less in cost.
