Did anyone else hear that Shout Factory will be releasing the DIC series of GIJoe in the new year?
Although not anywhere as near and dear to me as the Sunbow series, I did like some of the episodes and it was good to see the newer members in cartoon form. So I would buy it.
-
Keep us posted. I want it.
-
yeah count me in on that too!
-
I have been waiting a long time for that one as well. It was a series I enjoy, and I would like to see it restored. The version I have is VHS rips so I can't wait to see it with clear picture and sound.
-
I don't know if it's good or bad that these are actually coming out on DVD, but I'd still buy them for the simple reason I didn't get to watch all of the episodes, good or bad.
I'd like to see again the part where the Joes go visit a retired Hawk and they convince him to return to Gi joe as their general.

Got to get tough, YO JOE!

<laughing hard at Latin joe> Super funny!
Funny? You will learn the true meaning of the word "funny" when you finish watching the episode where Gi joe teams up with Cobra to take on Headman and his super addictive narcotic threat! Falcon befriends the sibbling of a Crimson Guard while they're patients at a drug rehab center, Duke disowns Lt. Falcon, and so on. All of this doesn't sound funny when I write it, but trust me, it is still a haha episode amongst many others, but most importantly it's probably the only 30 minute long PSA that I know in all the GI joe series. And finally, a little wisdom from the 90's: Winners don't use drugs ;D

loshers whine about their besht, winnersh go home and bonk the prom queen
- Sean Connery, The Rock.

I meant funny in the:
"Yo-JOE! YO-O-O-O-O-JOE! (ending with the annoying synthetizer sound effect)"
I recalled to me a little laugh thats all, because it's the same thing that i remember from it. With that said I am looking forward to it being released, as to continue to complete the rest of my shout joe seasons.

What??? You found my gi joe battlecry funny?!?!? Oh, the pain! For this dreadful insult, you will....No seriously, that battlecry was meant to be funny so I'm glad that it made your day :D.
And no worries I did understand you too. I guess you're not used to my twisted sense of humor. Anyhow what I meant to say is that one cannot underestimate the meaning of the word "funny" until they rewatch the shameful era of Gijoe's 90's cartoon episodes :P

Two words"
"Kindergarten Commandos"
now that is funnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...love it :)

"Official announcement and ordering info for DiC G.I. Joe series
I’ve gotten numerous messages about this, just hadn’t had a chance to post it up yet… but yes, Amazon.com has a pre-order listing for the upcoming Shout! Factory release of the DiC G.I. Joe series, at the moment entitled “G.I. Joe: Series 2″.
You can check out the pre-order page for the animated series right here, which features an image of some awesome box art with Battle Armor Cobra Commander, Scoop, ’89 Stalker, and Slaughter Marauder’s Low Light & Barbecue. Check out the cover image below. Thanks to Captain N for the intel!?"

Lookin' forward to this. I never got to see them all.
I managed to make it through Valor vs Venom over the weekend... I'm confident I'll make it through this.

Horrible timing. You think you would try and release it before Christmas.

I think they believe that the market for this series will buy it regardless of release timing.
I think they're right.
-
I'm with Pete on this. Sheryl would probably have bought it for me for Christmas if it was an option for her. Sure, she could get me a pre-order, but it's just not the same. I'll buy it for myself, but I might wait and find it on a discount price, maybe.
-
It's $20 for the the entire season, right? That ain't too bad.
-
I'm only expecting one thing from the DIC boxset: that Rhino included a 2011 interview with Chris Lata and Burgess Meredith! Cobra-LAlalalala-LOL! And I don't think I'd care much for the price tag since I've waited this long. I'm sure It'll be reasonnable anyways.

How many seasons are there? two?
This says "Series 2 Season One" when you click the artwork of the box.
Either way I'll be gettin it because it's awesome fun and will complete the rest of my Shout Factory GI JOE Collection yay!

From best I can tell there are two seasons of the DiC series. If you go on YouTube there are two different versions of the DiC opening credits. The first one has a lot of 1990 characters and vehicles and the second features a mix of '90 and '91.
