Title: GIJCC 2012 convention set.
Post by: morgardee on January 29, 2012, 12:09:46 PM
Take this for what you will but I was on facebook today and fired of the MC club a question about this years set:

Quote
Well every post I've read as far as the 2012 set has been calling for a Night Force theme and the Night Boomer (3 3/4). This is the first year pretty much everyone has been on the same page for what they want so I STRONGLY suggest increasing your production numbers if (heck, when) you make the Night Boomer. Don't go crazy on the price ($50 sounds fair) and you WILL sell out. I'd bet money on it.

They replied:

G.I. Joe Collectors' Club ‎@Dave - The set was determined months ago and is very far along.

So personally I read that as there is no Night Force set this year, which means no Night Boomer. That is just my opinion, and not fact.

Ya that Night Force set sounds like a great idea.  Maybe next year.

I read a rumour that the set is going to be a Ninja themed set.  I hope not I'd be very disappointed if it is.  Don't get me wrong I like the ninjas but not a whole set built around them.

Crap, I think you might be on to something.

Looks like the Arashikage symbol.

Nuts.

Hard to say but I think we'll know very soon.

I looked at previous years posters / advertisements and they don't always equal what the convention set is about.

It is possible the Arashikage symbol is being used to reflect the guest of the convention and not the toys. In other words they might have both Ray Park and Byung-hun Lee as guests at the event. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Remember, in 2008 the GIJCC post image was Snake Eyes with Timber but the set was all about BATS and the Head Hunters.

Am I the only one that sees Crystal Ball's face on the upper left hand corner? Maybe I'm imagining things, but I see his white streak of hair, collar and glowing eyes. What do you guys think?

I do sort of see teeth. I can see what you are talking about now:

Two minutes in Paint, it looks like Monty Burns, but this might help
 :D

Like I said, I might just have an over-active imagination.

Maybe Crystal Ball hypnotized me into seeing what's not there lol.

I guess it was out of left field, but the club could throw together a decent CB with existing parts and (maybe) a new head.

25th Spirit legs
25th Snake Eyes torso
25th Zartan arms
30th Gnaw webgear (for the fur collar)
maybe 30th Thrasher's head  ???

Ok, maybe it's ninjas.

if it is not all Ninjas... I will be shocked!

I can see it now:

Snake Eyes
Storm Shadow
Jinx
12 Red Ninja army builders

You guys got it all wrong. It will be centered Chuck Norris. G.I. Joe hired Chuck in response to Cobra hiring Rowdy Roddy Piper. Chuck will come spring loaded third first that launches out of his beard.

Jokes aside, the more I've thought about it the more I doubt it will have anything to do with ninjas other then possible actors. I think we'll see another 3 pack Joe team, maybe to go along with the SWAT theme started in 2008 or something like that. No idea what the Cobra team will be this time. I'd like to see them do more with "The plague" but who knows. We'll know something soon. They said within a week a few days ago but their track record for keeping time lines isn't that great.

As long as the set doesn't include Stormy, Snakes, Duke, or Cobra Commander I'll be good.

I was actually very pleased with last year's set.  Cobra de Aco, a first-rate Leatherneck, a new take on Wet-Suit, and Claymore and Sparta were all good.  Now if I could just get my hands on a Python Stinger for under $200...

I've heard that this year's set involves an evil group of terrorists who steal the original JoeCon hotel booking.  All to crush the Joe Fan club and create Cobra Con.

Yeah............
