Off Topic / I need your help, eh?
« on: October 19, 2012, 09:01:55 PM »
Hey, fellas, I was wondering if you could lend me a hand.  I'm working on a paper for a class I'm taking about the English language in Canada, and I'm writing about the use of the word "eh?"  Hard to get more stereotypically Canadian than that.

I just wanted to ask you guys these two questions.  If you could answer, it'd help me out greatly as I still need to collect some data.  Rest assured that I only need your answers, not your names or anything!

Thanks, hosers!

1) Do you use "eh?" in, e.g.: "So that's what he thinks?"
a) yes
b) no
c) sometimes

2) Do you use "eh?" for "What did you say?"
a) yes
b) no

General Joe Talk / Clean the clutter with a HISS Tank
« on: May 08, 2012, 09:36:47 PM »
Hey, guys.

Have an extra HISS Tank you don't know what to do with?  Don't worry, I got you covered.
I wrote this for the JoeCanuck Newsletter, which unfortunately is no more, but I managed to find a use for it after all:

I also want to thank you guys for helping me with the original idea all those months back.  Thanks to you, HISS Tanks might soon be conquering a desk near you!

Suggestions / Help! Email Notification Not Working
« on: July 28, 2011, 05:51:57 PM »
Hey guys, I need a hand.

For some reason, I'm not getting any topic reply notification emails anymore.  I've checked my User Control Panel; I should be receiving them, but they're not arriving at all.  latinjoe22 was planning a local meetup for Montreal-based Joe fans.  I posted in the thread, but when I didn't get any reply notifications, I assumed no one had replied to the thread and the event was cancelled.  Instead, I missed an event I was looking forward to and feel like I let my friends down.  (Sorry, guys!)

I've checked my email account and the notifications are not going to my spam folder.

Anyone else having this problem?  What should I do, fellas?

Off Topic / Happy Canada Day!

I hope you guys all have a great Canada Day!  I know I will:

I think I'll celebrate later with some quality cinema:

Newsletter Section / What are the Newsletter Submission Guidelines?
« on: March 23, 2011, 10:30:35 PM »
Hey, guys.  I'm preparing a piece for the newsletter, but I just have a few questions:

  • What sort of content are you looking for/do you accept?
  • How long should it be?
  • How many photos should I include?
  • What should be the dimensions of the photos?
  • Where/how do I submit my article?
  • What information do I need to provide? (title of article, username, etc?)
  • What is the deadline for submitting a piece?
  • What is the criteria for a piece making it into the Newsletter?
  • Does it have to be in English?
  • Is there a sticky thread in the Newsletter section that explains proper Newsletter submission procedure?  If not, there should be!

Thanks for the help, guys!

General Joe Talk / The mess-cleaning HISS Holder
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:50:39 PM »
I don't know about you guys, but my desk is usually a mess.  Worst of all, I tend to leave a bunch of crap lying around on the area in front of my printer's paper tray, so refilling it becomes annoying when I have to push pens, papers, movie tickets, cards, jewellers screwdrivers, elastic, the miniature diecast MOBAT from '82, etc. out of the way.  The Pit Commandos and Beachhead on the side of the printer don't get in the way, but the mess in front of it does!

Today, I decided it was time to change that.  So, I started thinking: "What figure do I have has a backpack I can put pens in?"  I considered using my BioShock Big Sister, but I found something better.

Gentlemen, for your consideration, the HISS Holder!

Pens, pencils, scissors, broken hobby knives in the turret:

Rubber bands, paper clips, other small items like tubes of thermal grease go in the cockpit.  Remove the driver for more space:

Keeps things organized, is easy to move to access the printer, and best of all, it fits with the figures I already keep on my desk:

The Septic Tank might cause messes, but this one prevents them.  And if you use a HISS Mark II, you can use the rear troop compartment as a drawer for more storage.

My messy desk problem is solved.  Thanks, HISS Holder!

General Joe Talk / My new Joe Animation: "Brothers in Silence"
« on: July 27, 2010, 02:13:47 PM »
Hey gang, I just wanted to share this with you.  Recently, I made a short stopmotion animation.  It's basically a Silent Interlude homage featuring the Arashikage sword brothers, Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow.  You can check it out here if you'd like:

General Joe Talk / My GI Joe Figure Comic: "Ages 25 & Up"
« on: September 28, 2008, 08:31:50 PM »
Hey guys!  I've been making this Joe comic of mine on and off for a few months now.  I've finally decided to get serious and try to post a new one a week (at least until I get too busy with school, work, etc).

I've posted a few of them on forums and the blog I made, so I thought I'd finally share my comic with my Canadian brothers and sisters.

I'll post a few of them this week until we're caught up.  Hope you enjoy!

Quebec / Quebec Sightings Thread
« on: March 30, 2008, 10:51:24 AM »
Not sure if this already exists, nor of a better place to have one.  In this thread, we can report our sightings, however big or small.  I'm sure your fellow Joe Canucks will appreciate your scouting reports!

I recently went to Carrefour Angrignon looking for Joes.  The only Joe-related product I saw were a couple of Sigma Six Paratrooper Dukes. :shifty: I wasted my day, but I hope that some of you won't have to know that you know.  And knowing is half the battle!

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention that Capitaine Qu?bec still has the Joes' 5-pack, but that's all the Joe stuff they have except for 2 comic book trades.
