Schedule for FANatical (updated)
« on: February 22, 2007, 10:57:03 PM »

FANatical chose me officially as a subject, and they're still keen on us playing paintball together. Who would be interested and available to join me for paintball in the afternoon of Monday, March 5th?

Well.... congrats on being picked.

But Paintball man? I thought you were against that since it's not 'you'.
Needless to say, I'm out... I'm no where near there!

What I find odd.... is they're doing Paintball with you in March - but they won't attend the Joe Meet a month later?... yet they were willing to fly down to the U.S. to film people?

Strange.

You should try mentioning the Joe Meet again..... see if they bite this time.

Paintball hurts. My internal hemerage bruise still hasn't completely faded.

At least I have some idea of what it would be like to be shot now. As it turns out, it's shocking and unpleasant.

I was unwilling to pay for paintball. They're still talking about sponsorship, so I'll give it a go. But outside of one team shooting red and the other shooting blue, it's true, I don't see the connection.

I'll mention the Joe Meet again, but as I understand it filming has to be done in March. That, and Entertainment Tonight is doing a segment on FANatical that they're only available to do between March 3rd and 6th, so they have to film something in that time.

My Stag for my wedding included a day of paint ball 1 week before the wedding. As I was walking off the field after being tagged, I had my hands in the air, gun over my head and some dolt shot me right in the back of the neck. Yeah, that left a mark since the back of my neck wasn't covered.  Good thing is it didn't show up in any pics.

I guess I'd never last in 'Tv land' then. I prefer quality over quantity. Displaying a 'FAN' in his 'natural' setting of Paintball just to meet a deadline doesn't truely represent that person in my opinion. Actually.... I wonder how many other people on that show have had to do things that 'weren't them' just to get it done.

Yes, I'm sour on this. Why? Because it's going to showcase and paint Ryan in a light that will say "Hey! I'm into G.I.Joe, I work with kids and shoot my friends because of it!" - instead of showing  that he's so dedicated to his hobby that he'll take a road trip out of province to attend a gathering of Joe Fans.

 :-

SO glad I turned it down now..... they'd have me at the target range here in Hamilton shooting rabbits I'm sure.

On a more serious note - is anyone joining you yet? As I said, it's cool and all that you're doing this - but is anyone biting at being on TV and doing the paintball thing with you yet?

Don't do it if they make you pay. I see NO reason for that - they make money off the show - you don't.

I know what you mean, Mike. On the Buffy episode, the guy they were profiling took his daughter to a horror movie convention. It's never said in the episode, but knowing how they work I can easily see some producer that just thinks vampires saying it's the same thing. Ultimately, it's just a few clips, the episode is mainly the master interview.

And no, so far no takers.

And honestly dear, that's what happened. It wasn't a hickey from a bridesmaid. Really. I swear.

Paintball is a stag tradition only becuase it provides such great excuses for any unexplained marks, scrapes and bruises for anyone who asks. ;-)

Paintball is something I only play with my friends, because I know they all won't invest $600 for an automated paintball marker. We all use the same rental loners.
I remember that one time we played Hyperball and let two dudes into our game with their supped-up markers with scopes and it was so unfair.

Sounds like a pretty lame idea, and completely unrelevant to what a G.I.Joe fan is.
I guess these guys have no clue what fans like, and just make generic stereotypes... GIJoe = military = guns = paintball, I suppose.
The entire appeal towards the character portrayal and the diversity of the medium is more or less ignored, isn't it?

I wouldn't be surprised if a Transformers fan would end up going to a robotics convention or a car show with these folks...  ::)

Count me out.
I'll probably be such an ass to the crew on account of them being so clueless about these hobbies that they'll kick me out anyway.
