Could the stuff be used to get labels off of carded or boxed items or would it mess them up?  I've been using rubbing alcohol and elbow grease.

I wouldn't use lighter fluid, but Goo Gone would probably work.  Of course, test it in an inconspicuous area or on a box you don't care about first...hard to predict what petroleum distillates will do to paper...

I use to work in a comic store and we used lighter fluid on packages to remove price tags all the time. Never caused an issue.

I would of course defer to Morg's judgement on this.  I tried several different products before I settled on Goo-Gone as my product of choice.  Whatever you use, if you're using it on plastic make sure it doesn't have xylol/xylene in it, or it'll eat your plastic.   And Neo, in the Wal-Marts down here GG is in the paint section.
