Title: Hello Joe Canucks
Post by: SnowHawk on August 14, 2010, 10:19:25 AM
I have just joined the Joe Canuck forum and I really like what I see.

I have been at Can Joe Con 2009 and Can Joe Con 2010.  Can't wait for 2011.

I have been playing with G.I. Joe since my cousin got his first figure in 1983 (Gung Ho).  I got my very first figure in 1984 (Recondo) and I have been collecting ever since.  My cousin and I used to collect together.  We would look at the card backs and figure out which figure we were going to get every year.  After 25 years I was finally able to convince him to give me his collection and it is on display in my basement with my collection.

I love all things G.I. Joe.  I don't care if it is ARAH, Joe vs Cobra, VvV, ROC or POC.  I even have some 12" stuff kicking around as well.

I look forward to reading the forums and getting to know some people.

Yo Joe!

Welcome aboard Snowhawk. I have to say that your story reminded me of my brother and I when we started collecting Star Wars. He got his first figure and that's how we got hooked. Each time our mother would get us a figure we would go back to the cardbacks and decide what each of us would pick. We never fought, except for that one time that there was a 5 figures for 5$ special at Simpsons, andmy brother always found a way to convince our mother that he would get 3 and me 2. I remember laughing as my brother was lying to my face! Yes I took it very well as a kid and i still cant believe I managed to. He got married 15 years later, and he just couldn't keep the toys so he asked me if I could keep them all, including the few Joes that we had, and I was made Safekeeper of our collection. A few years ago he realized I became a serious collector and decide to leave it all to me. My brother still appreciates what I collect, especially the seeminglessly never ending ARAH collection, it reminds him also so much and he actually plans a visit to my place whenever I get something that we used to have or wished we had as kids (collecting Star Wars and gi joe was very expensive for us back then).

I apologize about my avatar.  I was using Mozilla Firefox and it was a picture of General Hawk.  I just switched over to Internet Explorer and saw that it was a huge error message from the site I found the picture.  Sorry about that.  I'll just grab an avatar here to make life easy.
