Off Topic / An Ebay listing you don't see everyday...

Here's something that might just 'light up' our darkest hour. Remember, this is from a well known and reputable Ebay power seller, so it's to be taken very seriously ;)

Think of it as Brain Age : Christmas edition  :D

"What is the first action figure that you remembering receiving as a gift for Christmas?"

Well, I remember that in 1983 I got my first Star Wars figure. I was hoping it to be Darth Vader as I was unwrapping my gift. As soon as I noticed that it wasn't Vader, I was shocked. I asked my mother why I didn't receive Darth Vader and she answered that she went to many stores and they just didn't have it. I was going to cry because I really wanted a Vader so badly, but she then came up with the most creative lie and it worked: She said it was Vader in his other white uniform.

Because it was actually an Imperial Snowtrooper and it came with a small cape-like vinyl waistpiece, I immediately made a strong bond with this figure and to this day, it is still my favorite vintage Star Wars figure, Vader coming in second. The imperial Stormtrooper didn't come with a lightsaber of course but I was so mesmerized by this "Vader"s unique cape that It didn't matter to me anymore  ;D

Off Topic / Lanard Corps toys
« on: November 23, 2012, 12:57:01 PM »
Yes, you read it right. I recently acquired in a lot a few Lanard items. About 20 figures, and 4-5 small sized vehicles, all complete.

The real question is: is there a site that catalogs ALL the variants? The figures I got are all painted in neutral army colors, as opposed to some of the brightly colored releases. Are the more realistic ones more desirable amongst the collector community (if Corps figures are popular at all that is)? They are all in great like-new shape, and I heard that a few customizers like these Corps figures on the cheap side to use on their creations.

I'm looking into selling them maybe at 5$ each at a local event. Is that too much asking you think?

Anyhow, I'll post a picture tonight of everything.

Thanks!

Quebec / MONTREAL MINI COMIC CON DECEMBER 8TH 2012
« on: November 21, 2012, 01:46:34 PM »
Hi all,

Want to know what's happening next in Montreal, just in time for Christmas? The Montreal Mini Comic Con, at the Palais des Congrès on Saturday December 8th from 11am to 6pm. General Admission is 5$ at the door only (no online admission).

For that you get to live the same type of experience as with the 3 day event ( comic book, toys and memorabilia vendors/exhibitors, guests, and your chance to meet wonderful costumed characters, etc), except that it's a one day event only, and it focuses more on local guests and artists.

For Sale or Trade / Gi joe Palisades Mini-busts for sale
« on: November 01, 2012, 02:21:53 PM »
Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know I've decided to part with the few Gi joe Palisades Mini-busts that are in my collection. I want to clear some shelf space, so these would need to go.

I have:

Baroness (first black outfit version)
Scarlett (first original outfit version)
Serpentor
Snake Eyes

I displayed them out of the box, and the boxes are included. I'll be posting some pics over the weekend. The statues are numbered (except for the Baroness who is marked as "promotional") and they are still in like-new shape as when I bought them.

Asking 280$ for all of them. I know that sounds very expensive, but I thought I'd ask, hoping that someone who is into statues would like to have these very much.

PM me if you're interested and thanks for reading.

General Joe Talk / ARAH / Modern Era Poll
« on: October 26, 2012, 12:53:25 PM »
Ok, here's what's been cooking in my joe mind lately.

A post made a few days ago here on the boards gave me the curiosity to find out where everyone is in their gi joe 3 3/4" collection.

So what do you collect nowadays: is it more of ARAH (O-ring), or Modern Era (post 25th, non O-ring)?

Since this is obviously not a popularity contest, but an invitation for you to share the status of your joe hobby with all of us, I'm letting the results show as they go.

Here we go!

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / To secure a convention set...
« on: August 09, 2012, 06:24:01 PM »
Just a few questions that I'm not sure if someone has answers to or already answered them somewhere on this board:

  • Besides the registration: For those who paid for their convention set: what are the conditions that we have meet in order to secure our set (show a proof of adress, a photo ID, etc)?
  • And for those who will be lining up: the same conditions apply to them?

« on: July 21, 2012, 02:32:11 PM »

Looking at getting 10-15$ per figure. Characters are:

Growing Dinosaur Neil
Projectile Human Bullet
Natural Tick (Tick Talkers series, batteries don't work anymore, should say:"Or maybe not")
Tourist Tick (Tick Talkers series, still says:"Hang Ten for Justice!!!")
"I love wheat" Tick (Tick Talkers series, still says:"Mysteries abound!")
Evil Thongue Thrakkorzog (Series 2)
"Sewer Spray" Sewer Urchin
Exploding Dyna-Mole

PM me if interested, thanks!

Items Wanted / Sega Genesis Console needed
« on: July 15, 2012, 10:51:24 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'd like to know if anyone has an old Sega Genesis console (the core) that still works and that they don't need anymore. Basically, I have the whole system already, but the core console burnt or something, and doesn't work anymore. I'm looking for the elongated model, not the square one (unless you have the cables for it, because the TV cable is different than on the longer model's)

I'm willing to either trade for Joes or to buy a fully functional core. I've tried Kijiji but after people answering me that they don't know if the system still works or not, I just thought I would rather do a favor to a buddy on the boards instead.

Let me know!
