Ontario / Re: Hamilton/Burlington Weekly Meet

Thanks for the input. Maybe a monthly or biweekly at most would be better. I am going to look into putting something together. Maybe not even have a set day or schedule, just have a meet every so often. I would definately like to start a GIJoe collectors club locally. So if there is anyone interested in joining in the future let me know. The initial meet won't be until the new year anyway. I think I may call it the Halton GIJoe Collectors Club. The first meet will be a Sunday evening in January. Let's say Sunday January 11, 2009. By then I will have more of an idea as to how many interested people there are and what exactly will take place at the meet.

Are there any other GIJoe clubs in the area? Or even in Hamilton, Mississauga, Oakville, Stony Creek.

The Mike - You said there are toy shows happening about one a month. Can you give me some more information on these?

I can't believe there isn't even one single person that would be interested in a weekly Joe meetings. I would take care of planning the first one and finding a place.

Please people give me some feedback.

I want to hear evryones idea's about what they would like to see or do at this years Canadin Joe Convention. Whether it is seminars on collecting in general, diorama making, customizing, open forum with various presenters, comic related stuff, buying/selling/trading and so on.

Since this years convention will be my first. I am really looking forward to learning alot more about the finer aspects of collecting GIJoe. I have an idea that I'm currently beginning. I am making a 5 level structure of The Pit. In the GIJoe Yearbook #1 comic it had a diagram of the pit with floorplans for each level. So I'm planning on making one out of wood. The top will have the garages, driveways and grass. It should be pretty cool when done.

As for what I would like to see at the convention how about a seminar on constructing buildings for use in large diorama's. With the class focus on building of the structures not setting up the diorama.

Off Topic / Re: Where to get Star Cases for loose figures
« on: November 28, 2008, 12:22:02 AM »
Actually I just found Wholesale cases and they have small blister packs for loose figures. With a bulk discount for buying 1000 they are $.15each. So it works out to $150 for 1000. If anyone wants to go in on a group buy let me know. We can order 4000-5000 and probably get them even cheaper. I'm going to email them to get a quote.

Hey everybody,
Does anyone know where I can buy some small star cases or such for loose figures? I want to buy a few hundred and stock up. If anyone would be interested in doing a group buy, let's say 1000-2000, let me know. If we get that many they would probably be pretty cheap.

Cheers,

Is there any way to get a hold of any of the Canadian JoeCon exclusives? If anyone has some they would like to get rid of please let me know. Also with them being produced what are the chances of being able to get them all now? Since I am quite new to Joe Canuck I missed the opportunity to get them.

Anyone coming from far out of town and ending up in Toronto, whether you fly, bus, or train. Once you get to Toronto you want to go to Union Station and take the GO train to Burlington. Then transfer to a GO bus to Hamilton. With the cost of flying right now it would be worth it to fly. Westjet is even waiving the fuel surcharges.

Ontario / Hamilton/Burlington Weekly Meet
« on: November 15, 2008, 06:53:10 PM »
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to throw it out there. Maybe we can start a weekly meeting in the Hamilton/Burlington area. If anyone is interested in starting something like that let me know and I will start planning it and looking for good locations. We could have one night every week to go over different topics like customs, protecting your collection, GIJoe news, trading, and so on. My email address is disco3000@hotmail.com Feel free to drop me a line to let me know you would be interested in this.

If there is already a weekly meeting happening by alls means let me know.

Hello,
I am new as well. I'm in Burlington. I don't really know where the are any collectables shops in this area. If you know of any good ones let me know.

Cheers, Mike

I think Burlington would be good. If not Burlington, I would say Hamilton then. Also what about turning it into a 2 day event with speakers and workshops on the SAturday. On Sunday there could be some more workshops, maybe cutomizing, care & protecting, diorama's and so on. Also each day could have time for buying, selling and trading. Tickets could be sold before hand to try and cover some costs to make it better. Just an idea.
