Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Joe Canuck dio logo
« on: April 15, 2005, 12:57:55 PM »
I'm picking up a bunch of printable sticker sheets this week that I only need half of. I could use one to print up various sized logos for the Joe Canuck team's vehicles and base.

Anyone want to mock one up?

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / RIT Dye demo?
« on: April 11, 2005, 10:08:41 AM »
There's been a lot of talk of RIT dyeing GI Joes as a fast and effective base-coating technique. Raptor's been practicing the technique and showing off his results. I know it takes a pot of simmering water to do, but is there anyway we hook-up a backyard-burner or something and have a demo of this technique at the Con?

For Sale or Trade / Armoured Strike packs
« on: March 22, 2005, 03:51:32 PM »
Quantum got another box of Armoured Strike cards in. Is anyone interested in buying packs for $4 + S&H? If so, I'm willing to buy the box and sell them off. I'll even bring the packs to the Joecanuck Con if people would rather save on the shipping (and with Mike's permission).

For Sale or Trade / Terrordrome Box
« on: March 14, 2005, 11:00:28 AM »
To anyone that's interested, I have a Terror Drome box that's in kinda rough shape. I'm hesitant to throw it away because it is an obscure piece of GI Joe memorabilia. If anyone wants it, it?s theirs. If you?re going to the Con, I?ll bring it. Just PM me.

So far, after about 10 lage Hot Chocolates (Large being the size with the highest probability of winning a prize in Quebec, according to their legal poster) I have yet to win anything this year from Tim Horton's.

How is everyone else doing?

I am.

General Joe Talk / TCG Talk
« on: December 17, 2004, 01:35:53 PM »
Hello and welcome to the Joe Canuck TCG section. This is the area you'll post tactics, observations, and news about the Wizards of the Coast-produced GI Joe Trading Card Game.

If you are interested in trading cards, you should post in the trades section. And if you want to play a game online, there is the online games section. For the moment, as Mike mentioned, we are not hosting pics. But once we are, we will play games using pics for Set-Up and Firefight, and strictly adhereing to the Honour System. There is nothing to gain from these games, cheating just makes you a jerk.

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / GI Joe Card Tournament
« on: December 12, 2004, 10:39:38 AM »
Just to get it out there, who would be interested in a tournament of the new GI Joe card game at the next meet? There will be tutorials for anyone that has a deck but hasn't had a chance to play yet, and Mike's brought in packs for anyone that watches the demo games and is interested in playing. I could help with deck building for the new players, but options will naturally be limited unless you buy a box of boosters.

A game plays in at most ten minutes, so a bracket tournament could be finished in an hour. It won't take too large a chunk out of the meet, so don't worry about missing out on the socializing, trading, and the other events Mike has on tap for us.

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Items for Joe Canuck: The Movie
« on: December 02, 2004, 10:44:06 AM »
In another thread, Loop asked if we could save styrofoam for the Cobra base set at the meet. I thought it would be worthwhile to start a new thread about what else we might need. Obviously this list will grow and evolve as we flesh out the story, but here are a few fundamentals we should consider:

Cobra:
We need a Cobra army. Most of us have been picking up the many basic Viper variants that hasbro has offered us over the past five years. And we also have the Cobra Infantry packs. So it won't be hard making a Cobra army. It will be hard keeping track of them, however. Should we assign someone known for his legion as Cobra Infantry Provider? Or maybe divide it by types of troops, like Infantry Provider, Alley Viper Provider, etc?

The Hierarchy shouldn't be hard to fill. There have been enough Cobra Commander, Destro, Zartan, Baroness, Storm Shadow, and even Mindbender figures to chose from. But, again, who is in charge and how do we keep track? What if a mint v1 Stormy someone offered breaks during shooting? Does the owner accept the loss or do we all pitch in to replace it?

Finally, the base. Raptor's Terrordrome with the Battle Planet cannon is a given, but what about the styrofoam? Will it just serve as formless blobs in the background? Should we get a styrofoam cutter to form them into mountains and snow banks?

Joe:

Everyone is more or less expected to provide their own custom figure, I think this is understood. But will these figures be interacting with established Joes? The whole team? A couple of specific characters, like the Joe Commander Hawk and Canada's liason Back-Stop? If the Joes are to use vehicles, where do these come from?

And do we have any ideas for a Joe HQ?

Technical Requirements

We need a camera, and we could use a laptop, I think. I haven't done much Dio Shooting since Gay GI Joe Theater, but I remember the massive lights we needed to get the details on the figures to show. Is there anything else we might need to get? A food table for the extras?

And finally, how are we going to keep Loop's ego in check? Ritual pandering of his ideas? Distractions from hookers? Nearby rope if we need to hog tie him?

I think that's a hefty enough list of issues for now. If anyone has opinions on the matters, feel free to provide them. And any other issues anyone else can think of should probably be brought up here.

Message Board News / My new Avatar
« on: November 18, 2004, 10:25:48 AM »
There seems to be a glitch in the board. I was randomly given an Avatar of a marginally talented singer who gets far too much radio-play thanks to the minimum percentage of Canadian content our radio stations must air.

Anyone else had this problem?

For Sale or Trade / Marvel Legends Apocalypse
« on: November 11, 2004, 02:52:26 PM »
I happened upon an Apocalypse at TRU today, which I understand to be a shortpacked fig so I picked it up in case anyone needs it. I'm selling it for $14 Canadian plus shipping if anyone needs, or I'm willing to consider trades.
