Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Re: 2012 Canadian Joe Con
« on: May 12, 2012, 09:49:03 PM »
So, I'm new to the boards as you can see, and will be making my first trip to a convention in August.  Funny story, actually.  Last night, I was at the NY Yankees game with a friend of mine and we were talking about the convention.  We're both from NY and huge Yankees fans, btw.  He was happy to go and suggested that we see a Blue Jays game while we we were up.  Funny enough, the Yankees and Blue Jays are playing the same week of the Con, which is pretty awesome.  I figured that was a sign, so we had to go.  So, see you in a months and looking forward to meeting folks.

Introductions / Hello from NYC
« on: May 12, 2012, 09:42:57 PM »
Hi, I just joined and wanted to introduce myself.  I am 38 and started collecting as a child in 1982.  Ironically, my first figure was Breaker, which I still have, along with everything else from my childhood.  I stopped collecting in the late '80s and then put everything in my parent's attic.

I got back to collecting when RoC came out.  I never saw the movie, but started collecting the movie figures and then the PoC figures.  I told myself I would not pick up the 25th figs, but I quickly broke that promise and started buying the figs I had missed from 2007 - 2009, or so.  Then I got into the convention sets and custom figures.  I collect everything, but really aim for completeness of the Joes.

I really just discovered Canada Con and the Canadian mythos recently.  I think it is great and am getting into it now.  Actually, I will be going to the convention in a couple of months.

The aspect of collecting that I really like, is that you always seems to learn more.  There are always some sets, figs or something that you never heard about.....that's the great part about the line and collecting.  Anyway, cheers, glad to join.

I understand Hasbro requires the Club to have at least 1 Joe fig in the convention sets.  Since the full set is OG vs. IG, that stands to reason that a 2 or 3 pack will be of Joes...maybe both.  That would be good, there are some key figs that need to be made.

Jason Loo will be there, so hopefully that is a good omen about another comic.

Personally, I would like to see stands included.  I know it is a sort of nit-picky comment, but I think they look good.

No word on the 2 or 3 packs, if any.  Though, I'm not 100% sure if those get announced before the convention.  I think they don't.

The 2009 Int'l packs were sweet, but not so much last year.

The Club just put up the brochure.  Apparently, Dragonski is out, Horrow Show is in and there is a new character on the OG team.
