Time to tease us...
« on: January 20, 2009, 09:31:33 PM »

Mike,

It's time to tease us... the con is 3 months from now. May 2 is like tomorrow

Can you tell us the theme for this year fig? Artic, Air, Water, Jungle, etc.

Is it 1 or 2 (or more) exclusive?

Is it a fig made by Hasbro or it will be hand painted?

Maybe 1 answer every 2 weeks would be fun ;D

Thanks!

Martin

While I love the enthusiasm, I don't have much to offer just yet.

I can say this, if all goes well, then we're looking at a run of (hopefully) about 100.

If it doesn't, then I have a back up plan which will have a run of about 50.
That's all I can offer right now...

Personally I prefer if the details were kept to the very last minute, because it just makes the surprise even greater but that's just me! To know that the quantity of offered exclusives is beeing raised to at least 50 this year is great news already and that should be enough for now.

Something I liked about customized figures beeing offered at the previous meets is that it actually communicated the true spirit of the gathering, a Meet for the fans by the fans, no Hasbro directly involved at the beginning. But if the exclusive figures were to be made by Hasbro one day, then I'd say that it was to be expected with the popularity of the Meet that has outgrown itself over the last years.

Ok, I understand that nothing is done yet and you still have (a little) time in front of you until May 2. Maybe you can keep those questions and release few info from time to time. It could be fun.

Here are more:
  • Would it be made with the vintage (O-ring) mold or the new 25th sculpt?
  • Would it be a GI Joe or a Cobra?
  • Would it be a boy or a girl?

Like LatinJoe says, showing pics before time will kill the fun, but just few hints can make it fun and make people speculate.

Nope. My original casting contact has real life things going on, so I'm currently without someone for that. Which means, I have all the parts I already need - except a chest and a back part.

I'm looking into other options right now.

It's completely possible there won't be a figure this year.

That's MIKE's strategy: Lower everybody expectations and than BANG! Coming up with fully transformable playset from a GI Joe headquarter to a Cobra army set

At least there will be free  :timbits:

Oh no... they're onto me.  :shifty:

Honestly guys, if I had anything to tease you about, I would of by now. Usually about 2 months before I show you all the artwork for the figure.

And timbits? Of course!

Mike,

If you don't succeed to offer any exclusive figures this year, you could always offer at least a mini-filecard dedicated to Timbit's little friend - to tie in with Timbit's filecard... :shifty:

Okay let's get serious here, do you think you're going to offer cardbacks w/resealable blister for the convention exclusives like you did before in the past for a limited time?

I'd like to get a Snowbank & Shiver cardback to go with both my no.22 figures....unless you decided not to sell these anymore.

It's not a matter of me deciding not to sell them anymore, it's more a matter of me not wanting to lose the permission from Hasbro to use thier name, characters and likeness with the site and promoting of the Canadian Joe Con. They never asked me to take them down, I just thought it best to do so.

Ok, I have some news I can share - but it's not much news yet.

Quote from: "martin-montreal"
Would it be a GI Joe or a Cobra?

Cobra. Without a shadow of a doubt, the exclusive will be on the side of Cobra.

The exclusive this year will be limited to 100. That's One Hundred, not a typo. ;-)

The only other thing I can offer at this time is that it will be winter/arctic based again, and Hasbro is completely involved in it. Actually, without them - you guys wouldn't be getting "this". ;-)

Damn, it's 100% sure now that we're getting an exclusive figure for this year...

Now it's sure that we'll never ever see Timbit's litlle buddy's mini filecard done....EVER.

I'm crashing to the nearest bar  Yee-hah!
