Nice Cobra collection Sundance. Small but it's got what really counts!
My suggestion: try pairing the Night Viper with the Water Mocassin, and the Toxo Viper with a Hammerhead (if you can easily find it). I also place my Techno Vipers behind my 83' Hiss tanks, but you can also display him with Dr. Mindbender in the middle, which I don't see...
-
haven't got mindbungler. not really one of my favoured characters.
don't have a HISS... never really wanted one, either...
if i ever buy more larger vehicles (the Ferret and Stinger are the only Cobra vehicles i've bought since childhood) it would be the STUN, Mamba, Moray and Moccassin...
-
Hey Sundance, with your first pic, the blue and orange figure, is that the PoC Alley Viper? I like your collection, I can't wait to display mine.

5h4rK, You have to forgive Bandonov and at the same time you do have to give the man some credit. He's not collecting ARAH (80's-90's joes) but he's redicovering it all thanks to ROC and 25th.
He was serious, I'm sure . Bandonov, that's the original 1989 Alley Viper.
-
Thanks LJ, for the help. Yes, I was serious as I do not know the orignial figures. Please forgive me as I'm trying to remember. At least I knew it was an Alley-Viper, instead of saying what is with that Riot Cop?
-
Haha, sorry I really thought it was a joke.. the articulation is not the same at all! A riot cop.. hehe ;D

all of my Cobras.
-
Nice, I dig the army builders!
-
well, i decided that it was a bit crap just having 1 viper, CG, trooper, BAT, Eel, Iron Grenadier and Snow Serpent, so i initially decided to double-up on all except the CG, which i was going to get 4 of, so T&X had a squad to lead. then after winning a 2nd (had one from childhood) CG on the bay, i got lucky and won a lot of 4 complete ones for £30, giving me 6. i got 2 extra Snow Serpents just cuz i think they're cool.
-
I see you have two bats and two eels, I always wanted to do that as a kid, hey and now too!

Darn landing gear!

seriously how do you guys have so many figures without the broken crotches. I swear like 80% of my guys have lost their manhood. Clearly your toys need to be played with more. :)

'88 i think. it was only available as a mail-in. i got that and the Weapons Transport. which they didn't even bother re-stickering so it has Joe stickers.

Hey Sundance, how did you took the AF transfer to G.I. Joe when you were young? It was a good or a bad thing for you at that moment??
-
it was confusing when they switched from Action Force to GI Joe: The Action Force. the switch from the Pallitoy stuff pretty much passed me by because i lost interest in AF briefly after series 2 and barely remember series 3. (i basically just remember seeing the Pallitoy packed Skystriker and Hyena in a shop).
buut the switch in 1990 was confusing. Marvel UK was always telling us that 'GI Joe' was the American name for 'Action Force' and they were the same team - which was (of course true) reinforced in the comics with characters operating on either side of the Atlantic.
then they suddenly did this insert comic called 'Divided We Fall' that claims AF is a Euro outfit and the Joes a US outfit and that they'd been fighting Cobra seperately and not doing well and they were joining forces.
it maddened me. it was about then i realised that they were repacking the toys for the UK market (the Weapons Transport with it's Joe stickers I got from a mail in offer helped) and it really irked me. i was like 'WTF, why didn't you just sell it as GI Joe in the first place, you idiots?!'

Nice Pic! ;D

Nice outdoor pics, the Snow Serpents waiting for the snow is absolutely PERFECT!
i was like 'WTF, why didn't you just sell it as GI Joe in the first place, you idiots?!'
Hasbro's attitude toward selling the very "American brand" in different countries is kind of confusing. The very minor changes done for Canada (the first country to get Joe's outside of the US) should have proved that major alteration wasn't necessary to the popularity.

we've had a load of snow, so i took the Serpents out for a shoot...

I Love that!

I love how the trees in the background look scale, nice shot.

well, it's a hedge and a tree. but the hedge does look vaguely like a massive forest behind them...

Very nice! Are you almost done completing your collection?

not really. i need a few accessories still for Joes and some stuff for AF. plus i want 2 more Joes at least.

Flak-Viper
-
I like these guys..one of my favorite army-builder! And they can be found for cheap most of the time too!
-
yeah, cuz hardly anyone likes them. i only have one because the shop i work in had this one, Big Bear, Roadblock and Wet Suit v4 left from 1993 and i bought them all at £1 each. - which was cheaper than they were in 1993!
-
Yep, old Flakie is unpopular! ;D Do you have the pink version as well? If not, don't worry..there's nothing to miss here!
-
no, just that one.
-
Why is the Flak-Viper so unpopular?
-

Hey Morg... An Idea for the 2012 CJC Con set... Cobra North needs some Flak-Vipers done right!
-
Well, we already have this one:
I think he looks great but he needs a visor..
-
Why is the Flak-Viper so unpopular?
because he looks pony and comes from the Battle Corps era, i expect.

Very Nice!
-
The first fig I army build was the BATS. At that time, I didn't have too much money to put into my collection so I got few cheap BATS without their chest plate (like yours) and I bought some sticker. It filled my need for some years! ... in fact until I put my hands on some really nice, complete and cheap BATS!
Thanks for sharing your pics!

Love the o-rings. Those are the joes I knew and loved in the 80's. That's why I dig the 25th.
-
i'd like to get another pair of BATs, Vipers and blue-shirts to have 4 of each. hopefully, if i can get another, better paid job, i'll be able to. i wanna double my numbers of a lot of my generics (BAT, Eel, Viper, blue shirt, HEAT, SAW, Techno, Alley, Night and Toxo Vipers, Undertow and Iron Grenadiers) and add a pair of Annihilators and TARGATs, an Officer and i also want a HISS, WOLF and the Moccassin and Copperhead.
that's ideally...

-
I always wanted to know if two figs could fit on a Ferret. Now I know, Thanks!
-
IMO, the Ferret's poorly designed. the rider has to be positioned with their ass off the seat in order to reach the handle bars. it looks a bit daft.

I have about 10 BATS, becuase when I see one for under $5, I have to jump. But only two had chest stickers. Got some repro ones really cheap, as Martin suggested and they look awesome. Highly recommended.

Love the Rattler strafing run pics too!

thanks!
all i've got left to do is the frogmen, Shipwreck, the Hydrosled, Serpentor's chariot and the Night-Viper. i also need to do the Flight Pod, but a) it's hard to hold one handed to fake it flying and b) i recently found it's broke :(
got a couple more AF ones to do...

Serpentors cape looks like it's gone through a few battles!
Is the Night-Viper's gun attached to his hip in the last photo?
-
yup
-
You know I really respect the fact you take time to take pics of each figure. Are these all new to your collection and you take pictures every time you add them?
-
I totally agree with morg, thanks sundace! Makes me want to do the same thing...awesome initiative!
-

some is stuff i've had since childhood (like Serpentor) and some is stuff i've added, and i decided i'd do some dios for the fun of it and i just do stuff periodically when i'm not busy with other stuff and/or it's not wet.
-
Keep it up Sundance, makes me want to do the same with all my old joes and collection. I haven't had a chance to show mine since I've started last year. It's something I want to do. Cheers mate!
-
well, i started out doing the 'training exercise' dio story for fun, then i decided to do some pics of my arctic joes and then i just started doing stuff with everything i've got. i'm going to do some more (better) pix of Destro, Flint, Footloose, Jaye, CC and a few others once it's not raining! damn april showers!

More power to you brother. I don't have much privacy here where I live so mine will have to be indoors and just take pics of my collection on the shelves. I started last year with a empty WHALE that was give to me by snow. I got every piece to it up to last week. the command post glass was the final part. I loved my cousins WHALE as a kid and he loved my Sky striker, Rattler, Raven, and Conquest. So in a way I went navel...i also got the other parts that I lost on my rattler.
Then I went all out for figures and have close to 150+. It's a giggle kid thing that I loved that now as an adult I could get all the figures instead as a kid just looking at the packs and having to choose.
I love the winter joes as well. I want to get a snow cat. My brother had one as a kid and didn't take care of his stuff and that got lost in the ages. Plus the wolverine, and a few others.

awesome I love this figure, I have him as well but missing the mouth piece, so with a little ingenuity I made my own until I find one. The first 3 CC's are my all time fave, him being 3.
-
mine needs a new right arm. as do several of my figures... *rolls eyes*
-
really, what up the need for a new right arm for your figs?
-
broken thumbs on Wet Suit V1, CC, Footloose, Cross Country, one of the Crimson Twins, Grunt's left arm, a Crimson Guard and i forget who else. that's besides needing new crotches for TF Duke, Wild Bill, Snake Eyes, an Eel, Beach Head, Cross Country and a few others.
worse ones are needing a new crotch for Quarrel from AF, Z Force Steeler's right arm and SAS Force Stalker's left arm since those all go for stupid money.
-
Nice Armored CC, you'd hardly notice he needs a new arm, great photo! Just wondering, is there an easy way to tell if the head is flesh-coloured plastic painted silver or silver-coloured plastic?
-
no idea
