General Joe Talk / Re: State of GI Joe and Joecanuck.
« on: August 11, 2018, 09:44:26 AM »
I figured I would give it a week to see the responses, and I'm currently in Vancouver for another week, and I am saddened but not surprised.

3!!  3 of us, all longtime members, are all that seems to be left keeping the lights on.  I'm sure there are a bunch of lurker members still hanging out, but it really is crazy to see how far things have gone down the rabbit hole.

Oh well, until something happens I will keep checking in from time to time.

General Joe Talk / State of GI Joe and Joecanuck.

So I figured I would start a thread just to see how things are going.

Obviously GI Joe is at one of it's lowest points in the history of the brand.  No toyline, no show, and talk of another movie possibly being worked on but no signs of anything happening.  Hell not even a SDCC exclusive toy like the last few years.  Thankfully the comics are still going, but that seems to be all there is right now.

As for Joecanuck, well I think we (those of us still checking in) can safely say that it is the same here.  I personally still check in from time to time, but I no longer check daily like I used  up until earlier this year.  I miss the old days of course, but I understand why the site has gone so quiet.

I would love it if Hasbro could pull a surprise like they just did with a new round of G1 reissues for the transformer line, on old school packaging.  Do the same thing with GI Joe, even though most of the ARAH molds are gone.  It would be nice, but I know it won't happen due to lack of support, and the lack of interest in selling"war" toys.  Especially without a corresponding media tie-in.

Anyway, anyone still out there who wants to chime in with an opinion?

Happy New Year for 2018!!!!!

Can't believe it has been a year since I posted this for 2017.

I guess the biggest news was an official release date/year for the next Joe movie.  Here's hoping 2018 provides more news and new goodies.

Also, first post of 2018!

I hope there are still some people reading the board.

Have to say they did a great job on Crystal Ball.  Only nitpick I have is his facial expression.  Looks a little goofy/off, to me, but not so much as to affect the overall quality of the figure.

I figure a new head and vest while everything else is a reuse.  Although there could be some vests from winter themed figures to use.

Saw the CC Arctic figure, and not that impressed.  I would have preferred they went with the more cartoon accurate dark grey and shorter coat.

Saw the pic of Dusty and was impressed.  Also cool to see Crystal Ball finally getting some modern love.

Sadly I won't be getting a subscription.

Thanks, it really is nice and a great example of why the 2007 reboot was so great for the toy line and collectors.

It's a shame that Hasbro never got around to more releases and we've had this to stick with the club for that.

Finally from Fan Expo thanks to a friend.  It is a beautiful thing to behold it brings me right back to all the stuff that I love about GI Joe.

The best part is I didn't have to buy off of eBay and pay ridiculous prices in shipping and customs.

It was 80 bucks plus tax and considering it was only $50 US that's not too bad.

WOW!!!!!

Hasbro has finally done an exclusive that is above and beyond what I thought they could ever do.  Add in that it will only be $50 US and it is incredible!!!!  I don't really collect Joe anymore since there is nothing at retail, but this is a must buy for me, even at the ridiculous after market price we here in Canada will get stuck paying.  Here is a link:

General Joe Talk / Re: 2017 Con Set Battle force 2000

So what does everyone (anyone?) think of the con exclusives?

Nice to see a Laser-Viper 3 pack.  Also.....BACKSTOP!!!!!  Not a fan of his helmet design, or making him a parachutist as a figure, but glad to see him getting some more love.  Also liking Deejay, but not sure where Cobra Corrosao comes from, but he is fugly.

Not liking the colour scheme on the BATS Jetpacks.  Love the Cobra LAW freebie.  The Sky Serpent is ok, but not a fan of the mold/vehicle.  I always thought it should have been a much bigger vehicle to hold multiple figures.  The Marauder Snowmobiles are fun and a good choice of colour scheme.  Finally the Conquest as the Vector Jet is an interesting choice.  I like it, but I don't know if it is because it is the Conquest mold, or because it uses the Vector Jet colour scheme so we'll.

Not really collecting Joe anymore, but. I keep up with the news.

So far this is a nice update to the team, but the sheer number of BATS in the set seem like they just gave up on anything in depth.

What is more interesting to me will be the vehicles.  I can't wait to see what they do.

Happy New Year!!

Here's hoping that Hasbro's new shared universe (and IDW's) leads to great new things in 2017 for Joe.

Forgot to add...First post if 2017!!!!!  Haha
