Either way, I'm still picking up a set or two of these.

The folks from Bills Toy's & Games have condirmed that the figures in this set are GI JOE (camo), GI JANE (camo), Cobra Interrogator, along with the 3 Cobra Vipers. Look for this set to be released in late December 2005.

So my orginal hunch of GI JOE (aka Colton) and GI Jane was right.

Because Raptor said so. That's all you ever need to write.

What's that? I must have cotton in my ears. I think I may have heard something silly about G.I. Joe and G.I. Jane, but I don't think I did.

Quarrel and Gaucho, eh?

COBRA forces have kidnapped GI JOE and GI JANE, and the GI JOE team launches an all-out assault to rescue them! The two soldiers-turned-scientists have been secretly working for years on a highly advanced strategic defense system. COBRA wants to acquire the technology in order to build its own system and use it to threaten governments worldwide. Held prisoner in underground cells guarded by COBRA VIPER guards, the GI JOE team’s founder and his lead scientist are being questioned by the ruthless COBRA INTERROGATOR. They must resist their captors until the rescue team arrives!

A graduate of West point, GI JOE rose through the ranks and distinguished himself as an outstanding soldier. He was recruited by Special Forces and became a Green Beret, participating in covert missions in trouble spots around the world. Soon he was the most sought-after expert on secret operations and successfully led many of the most challenging missions ever conducted. With the rise of the COBRA organization, it became apparent that a special team was needed to fight this dangerous threat. GI JOE was chosen to form this elite force, and the GI JOE team was born. GI JOE himself “retired” from the team and disappeared from the official military roster. But unofficially, he is the head of a secret strategic defense initiative installation whose lead scientist is none other than GI JANE.

GI JANE was a military operative whose cover was as a combat nurse. In missions around the globe, she provided her medical skills and scientific expertise in strategic defense technology. When GI JOE formed his covert team, he recruited her as a scientific specialist while maintaining her official cover as a nurse. She eventually “left” the military to get a Ph.D. in physics; while she no longer appeared in the active roster, she had, in fact, moved to deep-cover operations. When GI JOE “retired” from the team and became head of a secret military defense installation, he brought GI JANE onto the team as the lead scientist. Through her work in high-energy particle physics, she was instrumental in the development of a rapid-pulse electron beam to be used for global defensive initiatives.

The chillingly effective interrogator for the COBRA organization has a past that is shrouded in mystery. Is he the former head of security for a deposed dictator? A demented psychiatric physician? An IRS investigator? Whatever his credentials, he is a master at extracting information from prisoners. And he can usually break them simply by talking to them… With a soothing voice that lulls captives into a trance, the careful application of logic and reason, and just a hint of sympathy, the COBRA INTERROGATOR soon has the information he needs. Of course, a prisoner sometimes chooses not to cooperate. That’s when the interrogator calls in COBRA VIPER Guards to help change the captive’s mind with some physical inducements.

COBRA VIPER troops are the grunts of the COBRA legions. If there’s a low-level, down-and-dirty job that needs doing, these are the guys who are in to do it. They wear multi-layered body armor and wrap-around helmets with built-in radio telecommunications gear, and carry multi-burst laser pistols, commando rifles and grenade launchers. They are assigned to different divisions and locations. Those who display excessive meanness and cold-hearted detachment are assigned to the prison where captured enemies and hostages are kept. Besides guarding the cells, they assist COBRA INTERROGATOR in the retrieval of information from prisoners. The more a prisoner resists, the better the COBRA VIPER troops like it, because the interrogator lets them apply physical punishment whenever someone refuses to cooperate.

So who thinks a rescue pack of Joes will be made?

One set is enough in my books.  I spent too much on other "new" army builders last year and it looks like I am running out of room for more.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. There is no more wall space left in my Joe room and the shelves are a mess now with way to many figures. Mind you, I don't have anywhere near the army builders that you do Pete. Damn, hail to the king on that one.
