Hasbro & Shapeways Enable 3D Printing Fan Art with SuperFanArt

http://www.shapeways.com/blog/archives/16759-hasbro-shapeways-enable-3d-printing-fan-art-with-superfanart.html

Hasbro is starting with the the Little Poney. Next could be GI Joe, Transformers, etc. Imagine creating legally your own pieces, vehicles or figs with Hasbro blessing. Not sure how it will work... do you have to make your own design? Do people at Shapeways can provide expertise, support and/or advice?

What do you think?

I don't know what will be the offer. We will the rights to pic anything: a vehicle part, a fig, an accessory?

And the big question is... what will be the cost. When you include everything: Design, manufacturing cost, then a fee for Hasbro (intellectual property), shipping... not sure how much this will cost since it's not mass production.

Why Beige? In the cartoon, if memory serves, it was Black. But you are right, this is a great opportunity to create accessories in new colours or replace the one we have. I can see a lot of small accessories be produced: mic, flashlight (Tunnel rat, Outback, etc.) and many more!

Reading through the MLP section of their site it looks like it'd have to be unique art, statues and the like. As for cost, the stuff they have for sale starts at $40 or so.
