Title: 82-83 Zap - With display teaser.
Post by: Raptor on January 25, 2010, 11:00:42 PM
I am looking for an 82-83 Zap. Condition unimportant. I'd rather have unbroken crotch and thumbs but that is not critical.

Will trade fodder or pay.

If you could help me out it would be appreciated, as he's needed for a display.

I have a damaged one - or at least some parts to him. I'll check as soon as I can.

What do you think of the idea of a glassed in display case that can display 32 figures with a small footprint and can be constructed out of dollar store materials for under $10?

I'm just sayin.

Yeah, I have a new project, which is dealing with insurance after they wrote off my car.

I have 2 of them done, I'll try to get a pic - anyone have suggestions about not getting flash reflections on glass?

1. Been there, done that. I still miss my van. :-(

2. Angles - it's all about angles. Slightly to the left and up, or to the right and up. ;-)

Ummm.....don't use a flash?

I'm gonna lose a Timbit for that, aren't I?

Seriously, though, add some lamp light for the sake of the pic, and take off the flash setting (or cover the flash) if you can.
Angles (not angels) do help though.

Took Mikes advice on the picture (and the sympathy on the accident...)

It's made up of dollar store picture storage frames. Each frame is about a buck and a quarter. Take two, clamp and glue them together at the sides. Repeat then clamp and glue them into clusters of 6, 8 or more. The backgrounds are 5 by 7 pictures printed out from Joe Amaro's site at the walmart photolab.

With the boxes and the glue they come in at just over $10 a piece to make. For a figures behind glass solution, you can't get much cheaper. You can get about 4 rah or 3 newsculpt/25th/roc figures in each box.

They aren't finished. I have to sand them and paint them the wall color so that they blend in. That will have to wait for warmer weather.

They are subtle, and I like how small the footprint is. They don't take up any more space than a picture in a thick frame. You can put them in small places where you couldn't even hang a picture. The area is narrow enough that the figures can't fall down easily.

I have others, one for every army builder from 82-89 and the other years of joes. When I get them completed, I'll post the rest.

Yes, the glass parts slide to the side. I should take a shot of it open too I guess. ;-)
