Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Re: 2012 CJC Figure Reveal : H.A.G.A.R.

That"s probably what The Mike means by robot. it has no AI at all, but is radio-controlled. Would avoid the problems often found on BAT filecards where they attack each other or are otherwise confused.

Vulnerable to things that disrupt radio waves, such as haywire explosions, but I guess normal bats would'nt fare too well against these anyway.

would'nt android imply more intelligence than being a robot? Industrial car painting machines are robots. Data (star trek) is an android.

Still, cool figure, definetely looks powerful.

Since Cobra already has the HISS scout, I would much prefer a Cobra version of the Armored Cycle! That would be super cool!
However, traction does not have the holes on his armor to connect the parts, so that is unlikely.

Off Topic / Re: A new cartoon TV Series Trailer that I found...
« on: July 31, 2011, 06:38:58 PM »
I don,t expect much from the series, like most of it's kind, the first story arc (maybe 2 to 5 episodes) will likely be cool, but the rest of the episodes will be uninspired enemy plans that never change the statu quo, until cancellation.

And of course, there's no way we'll avoid the retarded supposedly funny character. That's not limited to old school series, just think of Jar-Jar or Bumblebee in those new transformers movies.

Still, this makes me look forward to the new toys. If the thundercats are remade to modern standards, we could get some cool figures. I especially hope these enemy mechs come out well! (if they make them) Were did you see those 4" figures, Pdaat? I want to see them.

Quebec / Re: The Quebec After-Canjoecon

I'll be there, and I might bring my sister too. She might be ill at ease in such a group of boys though, so she might not stay too long. At least she can help me find the place, since she lives in Montreal.

So how many are coming so far? From the posts, that seems to mean 5 persons?

The drone has an amazing level of detail for such a small scale! I wasn't planning on getting it, but now, I might try for one.

This is great, it makes me feel lots better about not winning them in the raffle. I'll get a HISS scout for sure. Maybe more if the price is good. Pricing should be okay. That 30$ series was an exception, I hope.

Both dates are ok by me. I'll try to find some other reason to get to Montreal so I don't pay the trip just for that, but it would be nice to have another conversation with joe fans.

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Re: Your Con Haul Thread!
« on: June 21, 2011, 10:10:12 PM »
I got the con set too, of course, twice in fact. Will probably sell back one to a friend, not sure tough.

In addition to about a hundred cheap (mostly weaponless) cobra soldiers of various types to boost my legions, (including 4 Cobra-La Royal Guards, which is cool because a guard of one was pathetic!) I also got nice prices on convention soldiers, notably 5 Skull Squad Soldiers at 10$ each.

Especially pleasing to me was finding the comic 3 pack including Colonel Breakhov that l;ooks like himself and not just a repainted Red Star. Now, I need only find the pack with Horror Show and Stormavik, I'll have at least one version of everyone on the team. I'll only need the original Red Star and the black Big bear for a complete collection. I just hope they get some vehicules someday.

The Crimson Command Copter at 10$ was a nice find too. Sligthly damaged, but I can deal with it, and I already had Tomax and Xamot in pilot versions.

It was also good to find the black version of Cobra Commander with his podium at a reasonable price. Would have prefered the other one, but it's good.

Of particular interest was a customised comic 3 pack. It features Destro and Cobra Commander in the civilian disguises they put on in the Marvel comics when escaping from a failed assault on the G.I.Joe pit. (issue 55, the one included in the pack, nice touch!) Very well done, with pieces presumably sculpted by the creator, such as Destro's hat, and closed back with great skill (you'd swear this was never opened!) If it wasn't that the filecards in the back are completely irrelevant (red ninja vipers, etc) you could probably fool someone who didn't know that such figures don't exist that it's a real pack.  I'll try to get a webcam and post a picture, I think it's worth a look.

If the one who created that is reading this, I think it's pure genius! I love it!

Only regrets:
I managed to lose my convention patch, along with my first raffle ticket. i hope it didn,t get drawn while lying under a table or something.

There was a table with a box full of pack-rats. I always wanted those, and I wanted to inquire on the price, but there never was anyone at that table! And I came back many times. Those guys are lucky I'm no thief! In the end, I never knew the price and didn't get any.

Too bad that guy with the brazilian figures didn't get back this year. Maybe he would have decided on prices for his items by now, and maybe (ok, wishful thinking here) it would have been something I would have found acceptable to pay.

Overall, a good haul, but it pales in comparison to last year, where I found numerous unique cobra characters I didn't have. Now I only found Steel Cobra and didn't even get it.  I guess I have to leave some finds for the next years!

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / canuck me offer
« on: June 19, 2011, 05:03:19 PM »
By far the best deal this year was the comic. Because it gave us that awesome offer to have our own face on a canuck figure!

Since the offer is not valid in canada, some people may have missed the deal. But I opened a postal box in Zimbabwe to get it. This should help justify the shipping and handling cost. I don't mind telling everybody my trick now that the offer is over, but could'nt take the chance of not being one of the 10000 first guys to use it. Sorry guys.

Now I just have to wait 48 weeks! Of course, with the postal strike and the shipping to zimbabwe then back here, it might be delayed a bit (no more than 75 years or so, I'm sure, nothing big).

After that, I hope they get my figure in the canuckhead comic! Although if all 10000 of us end up in there, it might be a crowded comic. May be a where's Waldo type of comic. Find yourself in the comic, somewhere!

Too cool! Can't wait!  (so I won't)

Although I didn't find as many deals as last year, (can't be as lucky all the time!) I still had  a great time.Everybody from the staff was polite and helpful as usual. I'll be there next year for sure.
