The "When will you be at Toy Wars?" thread
« on: November 21, 2009, 02:59:17 AM »

You know, since Steve is such a great supplier of Joes and a lot of us do seem to visit every now and again, I figured why not?

If you plan to be at Toy Wars with some time to kill, why not share when you'll be there with the rest, so others who might have time can go there and we can have some collector get-together time? (or alternatively, avoid the more annoying members like yours truly )

Personally planning to go today (Saturday the 21st) some time in the early afternoon.

Last time I was there (the weekend before the last Montreal Comic-Con), he mentioned something about Thursday evening Joe-fan meetups in the store...  Is that true?

I'm busy most Thursdays, but I'd be willing to coordinate something one week.

Someone remind me of Toy Wars address.

Toy Wars
5535, boulevard Decarie,
Montreal, QC H3W 3C7

Mo thru Wed: 10-6pm
Th & Fri: 10-8pm
Sa: 11-5pm
Su: Closed

514-544-8969

As for the thursday joe evenings, Steve might've said that to you Snakes, but the guys that I see show up over there ( namely me, madman, and two other non board members ) actually just happen to go there without notice on thursdays because our schedules only allow us to show up at Steve's on this day. It's not as if we planned a Joe evening, but it kind of turned out that way. My first order of business at Steve's is always looking for the purchase of the day, and then getting a chance to do some chit-chat with the other guys while I'm at it. I'd still wouldn't call it a meeting as it's more of a "See you if I see you there, or see you next time if I didn't see you there" kind of thing. I'm not really able to show up other than on thursdays but if you want to coordinate something for a Saturday, I'll try to make it if I can. Saturday 21st is out of my way unfortunately.

What time are you guys usually there on Thursdays?

Because I have classes until 3PM that day and I'm all the way in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area, so I can't really make it any time early.

I live on the South Shore, so it's a hassle for me to get there (and the costs add up, too), so I don't really head down there much.  But, if you guys want to plan some kind of Montreal JoeCanuck get-together there sometime, I'd be down for that!

If I'm thinking what you're thinking by "plan some kind of Montreal JoeCanuck get-together", I think this can be accomplished more easily at a more accessible place like downtown montreal.

But I share your enthusiasm that it's about time we had some sort of informal meet to get to know eachother better. I know it's been tried before, and that there was even an Official Canadian Joe Meet held in Montreal a few years ago by fellow Scramble and others, but perhaps we dont need to go as far for now. Of course, this might not repeat itself often for most of us, considering we all have different occupations and schedules.

Let's not let this great idea vanish onto thin air.

Man, I was going to go that that Joe Meet in Montreal that time, but that very same day I was scheduled to go on a hiking trip that I could NOT weasel my way out of, and I only made it back in town for an hour before the show ended... :'(
