Do you remember Space 1999?
« on: October 20, 2024, 08:00:44 AM »

The TV show Space 1999 (AKA Cosmos 1999 in French) featured a crew and their spaceship The Eagle (1976).

Want that spaceship?

never heard of it.
Looks like that would fit in nicely in the Star Wars universe. Parked just outside the Cantina.
I like it.

Yes I remember the show (with Martin Landau).

Not a big fan as I watched it once and that was it.   The Eagle was a neat design for the time, but I don't think it holds up today compared to contemporary shows (and their ships).

From Zica Toys:

Quote
Plan B Activated!

What is Plan B?
As some of you may already know we've been able to acquire the funds needed to greenlight this project outside of Kickstarter.  Since Kickstarter will not allow the funding goal to be altered we've decided to cancel the campaign and have backers migrate their orders over the the ZICA Toys online store, which we're now calling "Plan B".

How It Works
The Kickstarter will remain active until 11/4/24, after that date it will be canceled. Backers will need to cancel their pledges and place a new preorder on the ZICA Toys online store, www.zicatoys.com.  Funds are collected at the time the preorder is placed, similar to how Kickstarter charges a backer's credit card once a successfully funded campaign ends.

The Same Bang For Your Buck
We're basically offering the same deals on the preorders as we did with the Kickstarter rewards but with the following changes:

Both the Mattel and Dinky variants are no longer a limited edition and have a lower price of $330.00, same as the Standard Edition Eagle:1976.
Preorders are open to a much wider international market and not heavily restricted like it was on the Kickstarter.
The "All-In" Kickstarter reward deal is still being offered via the preorders, which is the purchase of 2 Eagles and 1 Astronaut Crew Pack for $700.00.
Snooze You Lose!
One thing we want to stress is the importance of preordering.  We're only going to produce enough of the Eagle:1976 playsets to cover preorders, with very little extra on hand to primarily cover lost or damaged product.  People who don't preorder will run the risk of either not being able to purchase an Eagle:1976 playset, or pay heavily inflated prices on the secondary market.  Preorders will be open up until the time we're ready to start production.  Once that time comes preoders will be closed.

ZICA Toys and Giant Leap want to thank everyone who's supported the Kickstarter, it's been greatly appreciated!  We also want to thank everyone for their patience during this transition process, and we're looking forward to bringing you what we hope to be the best Space:199 collectible available for the 50th anniversary of the series in 2025!

All the best, Craig and Tim!
