General Joe Talk / Season 2 on DVD
« on: August 20, 2004, 10:27:37 PM »
Most of my Joe DVDs have been bought from DVD Box Office.

www.dvdboxoffice.com

They're out of Richmond Hill. Free shipping worldwide. Since I don't live in Ontario, I only pay the 7% GST.

I believe Season 2 Pt. 1 is $50.95. Expensive considering the number of episodes on it, but cheaper than what's been reported in this thread so far.

The Moncton Gamezilla is cool!

There's also a Gamezilla in Fredericton.

Many of the Joe DVDs I've gotten so far I bought from www.dvdboxoffice.com as they ship for free, have only 7% GST and usually better prices than in stores. For instance, Gamezilla has Joe Season 1 part 2 at $80, Futureshop has it at $70, and I got it from DVDBoxOffice for $55. They're a Canadian online company out of Richmond Hill.

I've been there hundreds of times when I lived in Halifax...he does have some rare stuff. I don't like the prices, but then I've always gotten Joes at really good prices, but it's a worthwhile shop to visit for sure. Lots of vintage Star Wars, GI Joe, anime, etc.

I don't think they have a website yet, but the same guy's been in business since 1977. I found this info online:

Odyssey 2000
6407 Quinpool Rd., Halifax, NS
Ph: (902) 429-6477

----------------------------

Another Halifax shop that has a similar selection and as good, if not better prices is "Strange Adventures". And they do have a website:

http://www.strangeadventures.com/

Between the two, I like "Strange Adventures" better. Hope you got to see this place Scramble! Hope you enjoyed Halifax too! I miss it.

Off Topic / Star Wars Original Trilogy Figures
« on: May 26, 2004, 08:36:30 PM »
If they're the figures I'm thinking of, then I've seen them in Wal-Mart here for about three weeks now. I've seen General Dodonna with three medals, a Blockade Runner soldier that Vader chokes, a Cantina alien I think, Han Solo....I think that's all I've seen. The cardback shows a Stormtrooper as well.

Way to go! Good for ya! Flint is cool. (I'd prefer Tiger Force Flint!)

NFLD, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I. / 12" new Joes
« on: April 30, 2004, 09:50:03 AM »
Thanks!

If you're referring to the 3 3/4" BAT with someone else (Beachhead, you say?) then yes, I believe I have. I've seen at least 4 or 5 of the two packs recently. Baroness and Sand Scorpion are two figures I know I've seen for sure. I don't like any of the new mold stuff, just the old RAH style Joes, so I don't pay adequate attention to the new stuff coming out.

Don't worry about scaring me off...I'm not goin' anywhere. (There's more of us in the Maritimes than you think. I know several Joe collectors where I used to live...in the Halifax area.)

I was following that topic as well. I don't dismiss his findings, but you're right; most of those posters were all over that poor guy!

General Joe Talk / Would you ever buy a broken crotch Joe?
« on: April 18, 2004, 05:10:33 PM »
I have done so in the past, but I prefer unbroken figures. I'll buy a figure at a higher price even if the o-ring is missing but the parts are in good shape.

I'd rather get a broken figure or someone I've been trying with no luck to track down than not getting it at all. Then your mission is to find an unbroken one, but at least the hunt isn't as stressful because you already have one in the collection.

General Joe Talk / Canadian GI Joe Fan issues
« on: April 14, 2004, 11:04:17 PM »
Keep in mind that by saying 'Real American Hero' it need not be exclusively the 'states. United States of America is really the united states of North America, and Canada is still a part of North America. Just because they abbreviate themselves as Americans, for the same exact reason, we as Canadians can clain that moniker as well, we're Canadians of America, North America!

So my Joes were American heroes, in that they were North American heroes.

Walmart now has 12" Ripper and 12" Hard Drive?? (I think that's his name...sounded computery) in addition to the aforeposted 12" B.A.T. and Roadblock. Also, There was a 3 3/4" blue-uniformed and muscley Baroness and Hard Drive two pack.

Toys 'R Us also had the Tiger Storm copter with the two extra figures in the pack.

General Joe Talk / how many of your childhood joes survived...

I think probably close to 20 or so figures are ones I had back about 20 years ago. Not many original vehicles though...only one or two.
