What is happening with the Classified Retro carded Viper?

He is sold-out on Walmart, Game stop, Maple, Toy Snowman, ...

Low stock on Hasbro Pulse

MIA on Amazon...

I get it, he is a troop bulder, but still, I don't see collectors buying dozen of him. It's weird...

One word: scalpers.

So I got my second "Once A Man" Cobra Commander from Gamestop yesterday.   My first one was from Pulse.   Still a great figure and the packaging is wonderful.

I picked up OAM CC yesterday from a Game Stop.  He wasn't the reason why stopped in: Falcon was.  I held off long enough to get him and he is starting to disappear from retail.   Plus I want to check out what retros they had in stock (picked up CC and a Snow Serpent the other day from another Game Stop in my home town).  Took me 15 minutes to make the executive decision to buy him (it was him or Gnawgahyde).  I still hate the concept of Cobra La.  But I figured this figure will be hard to find down the road and would have zero interest in buying it from ebay. 

When I went to pay, the cashier asked me they had another OAM CC for sale incase I was army building him.  My initial reaction was WTF.   I told him nobody army builds Cobra Commander (this guy should stick to video games).  He went on to mention somebody was buying them all up and never came back for the other two.  It was pretty clear at that point he was dealing with a scalper and told him this was the case.

For those that don't remember, he was one of the guys part of CanJoeCon staff years ago.  Most that went to the JoeCanuck conventions would have ran into him. 

My last interactions with Dave was going to his house to pickup the 3 3/4 GI JOE figures from the GI Joe Collectors Club.  He basement was full of Joe stuff.  He use to blame me for bringing him over from the 12" collecting world to the 3 3/4 world.  lol.  Nothing but good memories.

I am still processing this.  I got to know his wife and kid over the years. So the news hit me hard when Jon S texted me about it.  51 years old is far too young to go.     

The classified line still remains way too expensive to keep up.  If you are a completist, good luck.   

Not amused that TRUs prices went back up.  It was the only place around me that had a Techno Viper and Shockwave on the shelves.   Bought both but wasn't happy with the prices. 

Mutt & Junkyard has been released in Canada.  Bought one at my local EB today in Markham.  I was originally there to pick up a General Hawk. 

Found Mutt & Junkyard at my local EB today.  I have been waiting for this one.
