Title: Rekindled my interest in 12' Joes.
Post by: morgardee on September 20, 2006, 01:59:07 PM
I've found myself looking at more and more of the 12' figures as of late. My 3 3/4 ARAH is almost complete. I'm pretty much down to the more expensive figures and a few battle corps figures. I guess part of this renewed interest came from the Master Collector group when they initially offered either the very cool 12' fuzzy head Joe or the Nullifier that at first look seemed pretty craptacular (once he was show wearing the armour he looked much better).

I was always under the impression that the 12' Canadian Mountie figure is a hard to get 12'  to get and expensive, yet if you look on ebay  it's not hard to find them and for a fairly cheap price. I won an outfit for the Mountie just last week for GBP 2.70 ($5.08 USD). Shipping was a bit high but that's to be expected from England. Still waiting for the outfit to show up but I think I should get it soon.

I have to wonder, are there a lot more of these in England and does it really matter if it says "Action Man" and not G.I.Joe? personally to me it doesn't and I think this is a cool piece to add to my collection due if for no other reason than Canadian pride.

My personal favorite 12' figures are the fuzzy head / Kung Fu grip Joes. Anyone else into the classic 12' figures? The newer ones didn't do it for me.

I'm into the bigger joe as well.

I love the adventure team era. Some wacky stuff came out of this period and some really cool accessories. So much stuff to discover.

Action Man and GI Joe are about the same thing. Some gear only came out under the AM brand and its thanks to England that we got the fuzz heads and the incredible kung fu grip.

As for getting more gear, yes England is full of this stuff, so is France under the name Action Joe or Spain under the name Geyper man.

Action Man has reissued a bunch of figures and sets and they are really cool.

You can check them at modellersloft

Yeah   I'm  getting a few of the 12" figures now as well.   This years convention set  and the Foriegn adventurer  are what really did it for me.

I"m still looking to get a MC Foriegn adventurer... and I know the only way to get one is on ebay now :(

BUt my MC Sea Adventurer is pretty slick.   Also picked up a couple of 12" parts lots   so I got more accs than figures  for once.

Ask Scramble, he told me saturday that he was looking for a buyer for his Foreign adventurer figure.

Speaking of MC adventurer, I admit that even with the hard hands they are pretty cool. It saddens me to see how much cost the Land aventurer on ebay. Lucky for me I do have two vintage LA and they are in very good condition and I manage to grab a club Air adventurer.

If you say that the club"s sea adventurer is cool, I'll try to buy one from the club before they sold out.

I've also been looking at those Sea Adventurer figures. I haven't bought one yet but I did buy the talking commander a few years ago. Totally worth owning. I love that guy. As a kid I had the black version of him but he always said the same thing "I've got a tough assigment for you". I ended up breaking him and I guess he was thrown out.  :(

I due to renew my membership but maybe after I do that I might look into getting a Sea Adven.

As long as everybody is happy then my work is done

I strongly suggest that you order the FA accessory set from the club. Its really cool and the figure ain't complete without it.

Title: What is that "club"?
Post by: anderpol on October 20, 2006, 03:16:21 PM
Hi, I'm a new member and I collect the 12" G.I.Joe figures and I'd like to know what this "club" that is mentioned refers to. Is it an on-line store, an actual collector's club, a line of action figures or something else?

I'm also curious to know what those Sea / Air Foreign Adventurer figures are. Are they vintage, reproductions or other?

I remember the Spanish Geyper Man because as a child my family went to Europe back in 1978 and I saw a whole section of them in a Woolworth in Madrid Spain. My mom of course told me they wouldn't get me anything because I'd find the same stuff back home... not !!  I remember they had really cool figures with the cropped hair (without beard) and the old G.I.Joe mold from 1964 with all sorts of different sets from fighter pilot, deep sea diver and even a 1/6 scale pirate ship with the Geyper Man figures done up as pirates. Man, I wish I could be back there for a day with a full wallet...   :(

mastercollector.com
is where you'll find the gijoe collector's club.
Yes we're talking about repros which are very close to the original in my opinion. The club took great care in reproducing the figures. The air and land adventurer are sold out. They pop on ebay once in a while but expect to shell a hundred bucks fr those, specialy the Land adventurer.

The club still has the sea adventurer in stock for $43.

Check this link out:

http://www.mastercollector.com/ (http://www.mastercollector.com/)

That is the official G.I.Joe collectors club (sometimes called the mc club, short for master collector). They cost a bit up front to join, around $50.00 USD per year but with the membership you get a free figure which is either a 3 3/4 size or 12' size. You can also buy things from them on line and it's cheaper if you are a member. They have lots of different Joe items and hold the annual G.I.Joe convention meeting every year.

The Sea / Air Foreign Adventurer figures are reproduction figures and will cost a member $43.00 USD each.

Hope this helps.

Anyone interested in the 12' figure, there was a store in the US that made repos of the Action Adventure figure with Kung Fu grip from a store called Hot Topic. They are now sold out:

http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/ ... D=10366697 (http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302024135&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442145354&AID=10366697)

Anyhow, I missed the boat but found a seller on ebay who is charging $29.99 per figure, so it's not a bad price. Sure, they are doubling their money but in the big picture it's not bad. As I write this he has 8 left:
