News And Notes:
Ok, time to update the main page. As you can no doubt see things at the Index have been... busy, to say the least. Have a huge cumulative
update that spans the last couple of months. Just haven't taken the time to update the front page, but, here we are in a new year (Happy New
Year to everyone) so figured now's as good time as any to get that done.

In addition to the content mentioned above we're very pleased to say that the accessories for the entered figures from 1982-2008 have been
entered into the database, so, search away. The remaining gaps will fill in as the remaining items are uploaded to the site. Oh, was just
reminded, 1993 & 1994 have to be tweaked by "breaking apart" the various weapon trees for individual accessory shots. Those will be done asap.
The cross referencing of the accessories will be done over the next couple of weeks. Now that the bulk of the items are in that part becomes a
LOT easier. The 25th style accessories are due up later... Just need to have the time to devote to it.

And blueprints & Instructions for nearly every Cobra vehicle (not going to list all of them, way too many) have been uploaded. The Joe prints
that haven't been uploaded are up next.

Let's see, what else... Actually, I think that's enough for now. There's ton still to add, blueprints, vehicle parts, 25th figures and vehicles,
lots of stuff... so, plenty more to come.

News And Notes:
Got a bunch of new figures in and some vehicles. In addition to the above have added a couple of categories to the Advance Search...

You can now search by date stamp. (For some reason the database dumped everything into 2001 and a lot are still being adjusted to the
correct stamp years, but that won't take long.)

Also the International search has been started. There's only a couple in there for the
moment. When searching for International figures you can search either by the country of origin's name for the item, or, you can use the
domestic U.S. identifying name. For example: Say you want to look at Cheetah from Mexico, you can either type in Cheetah in the name field,
or you can type in Stalker (since it's a Stalker figure) and either search option will bring the same figure.

You can also search by a specific country or you can view all International figures/ vehicles by choosing International and checking the
check box.





Got a LARGE update done including a slew of updated figures. Between the other figures and vehicles I could spend the next year just
updating images and doing nothing else... I won't, but I could.

In addition to that the figure parts are in through 1990 (I messed up part of 1982 and some of 1983 so need to redo those, not a big deal
but wanted to mention that. Will fix those shortly) with a total of 25 searchable categories so far. You can also find all gear by figure
by typing the figure name into the keyword search. If there's multiple options for a category they can be further pruned by using the
keyword search as well. And like the figure search you can search by year, color, animals, etc... whatever. Um... I think that's it for now.

Well, have been working on improving some assorted areas of the site lately. Most importantly, the images are getting a major overhaul. All new
additions going forward will be larger, clearer and more detailed. As time allows virtually every older image will be replaced. The current
image updates are the first to be loaded. In addition to improving the regular images, any small tampo/paint applications will be shown in
detail. You can see the first of these on the Keel Haul pages (both of them).

So, as for the other things... The search pages have been tweaked. (Yes, all of them.) For the figure & vehicle searches it is now set so
that any item searched for will return the results WITH a visible thumbnail image of what's being searched for. So no matter what you look
for, if it has a viable record in the database, it will immediately display the result with a thumbnail so that you can see if what it
returns as results is what were searching for.

FYI, the thumbnails CAN be turned off prior to searching (this will need to be done before every new search). So if you have a slow connection or plan to pull up a lot of results, you can turn off the thumbnails if needed. Maybe it's just me but I like to know what I'm looking for is what I think it will be before I click on the link.

Also the results have been tweaked slightly in how they display. Nothing major, but the vertical lists just
weren't that appealing. The parts search is coming along. You can find most parts through 1988 at the moment.

A small update while other work is being done... 

And I have to say that while I am enjoying working on the site as much as I have been (when time allows) I'm getting a little worn down with seeing what I'm creating constantly showing up on other sites... well, one site. I'm about ready to throw up my arms and shit-can the whole Index because I can't seem to do a single thing without it appearing elsewhere.

While I've enjoyed working on the site, the frustration of having what I created to be unique and interesting continually mimicked isn't fun. So... I'm going to contemplate the future of the Index for the next little while.

Now for the accessory search... Have to start with a big thanks to Beav for his assistance with a part of this... The vehicle section hasn't been uploaded yet (but it's ready). Right now I want to get through 94 (for the figures )in its entirety and then move on to the vehicles and 97-present. Not sure if I'll stick to that order, but I might... anyway, the accessory search works similar to the figure search with some subtle differences.

First, you can search by color. Just picking a color will bring up all items of that color. You can search for only the animals. You can search for every accessory by year (only through 85 at the moment). The keyword area can be used to search for gear from a specific figure (just type in the name) or you can use it to search for a specific sort of accessory (such as a mask or skis or a shield). And of course you can play around and mix and match your searches... Oh, and there's a link for the accessory search to give a visual id of what will likely be in each area... I'll tweak page this as more categories are added.

If you can think of something that could use a keyword let me know.

I'm looking to get some numbers on this, but I found a variation to the 2002 Snow Serpent.

The variation is pretty stark... the more common Snow Serpent has white highlights over the top of brown paint. The variant snow serpent (the right one in the pictures) has brown highlights over the top of white paint. This is on the boot fur, the glove fur and the cloak. Additionally, the knee pads have the four "bumps" painted silver, the elbow pads are all silver, the buckles on the boots and glove straps are silver and the boots themselves have a white inlay with brown on the toe, heel and straps. I have two of the 'brown on white' snow serpents, anyone have any? Check out the pics...

So, I was messing with the B.A.T. v5 the other day in preparation for today's update for the Index and I found out that you can stick the arm and gun attachments from the B.A.T. v5 on the backpack which, I think, is an interesting nod to the first B.A.T. that started the "carry your crap on your back" idea for the B.A.T.'s. I haven't seen that noted anywhere, I even checked out Justin's 6-pack review, so is this an unknown feature?

Or does no one care?  :-)
