General Joe Talk / Intresting article about Hasbro

Its not the collector market that can keep a brand alive. (12 inch joe anyone?)

You might be surprised when it comes to Star Wars.  Star Wars is arguably the single largest collector-based behemoth in the World.  There are TONS of diehard collectors, enough to at least keep the line floating as other licensed media trickles in.  I mean, we're still talking about 62 million dollars in sales when there wasn't any movie to go along with it.

Normally I'd agree completely...collector-based lines don't have a whole lot of life.  When it comes to Star Wars, though...that's a whole different story.

Someone that attended the Joe Meet where the Joe Canuck figure was available has sold it back to me.

So far, the plan is to raffle it off at the next Canadian Joe Meet (April 2007).

Is the S6 stuff that popular, so they can rely on it?

Oh, Sigma 6 is far from the only thing they have to rely on here.  Now with the Marvel License, they'll have both Spider-Man 3 and Ghost Rider to license next year, not to mention the behemoth that will be Transformers.

Star Wars went from a movie year to a non-movie year, there's always a huge drop when that happens, no big surprise there.

I'm glad to see G.I. Joe and TF sales on the upward trend, though, that rocks.

Nope, he's Lt. Stone, a new character who will be appearing in Season Two.

Of course, all the publicity from Airtight and General Hawk must've helped.

Oh yeah...that's right.  He's sitting on my display shelf (number 22 on the foot, if I remember right...) ;)

I believe all three Renegades are packaged separate from Slaughter in a three-pack, probably similar to a comic pack, I'd imagine.

You're looking in 2006...nothing of real consequence has been actually released this year (until the latest comic packs), most of the stuff you're thinking of was actually produced LAST year:

That should have a decent breakdown.

By the way...

I find myself warming up to this figure more and more...if the camouflage ends up somewhat darker, I think I will REALLY like the figure.  A lot of folks don't like the fleshtone, but I much prefer this flesh color over the pasty white zombie-flesh of the 2001-2002 releases.

The original headsculpt is pretty neat, and I LOVE the mold.  Only issue to me is the colors, and I'm hoping they end up a little more muted in the final version.
