Title: Can you recycle packages?
Post by: thatcarlguy on October 29, 2009, 12:13:52 PM
I'm just kinda cleaning up and I'm tossing out a butt load of packages from Transformers, Joe, and some DCU and I'm wondering if I can recycle the plastic? It just seems sad to throw out all that.

I do it all the time. I have 2 blue bins. One is for cardboard, the other is for everything else. Just rip the plastic off the cardboard and seperate them.

It depends on your region.  My area (Oshawa) doesn't not recycle the plastic from any consumer packaging such as clam shells.   If you try it, the recycling contractor will just leave the packaging in the blue box.   As some one who works in the environmental industry, this does bug me.

We can recycle the packages where I live. The good thing is that we don't have to separate anything either.

I can recycle in Markham, sometimes I leave the plastic in the box and they still take it.
