Title: A Pleasant Surprise!
Post by: pdaat on March 29, 2012, 09:43:26 AM
I picked up a rather large item from Dodge - an "as is" Defiant Complex.  I wasn't too concerned about the condition (he described it as fair) as my son and nephew were going to be playing with it (carefully mind you!!!).  TO be honest - I wouldn't have called it fair at all though.  Cracked hinges, severe fade and missing just about everything.  I have to admit - I was quite disappointed.  That is until I found something hidden inside.

I don't own a Big Lob so I was pleasantly surprised to find this!  Looks like a great o-ring style custom! Whoever did this put a lot of work into it and although I am not a customizer myself I really have to applaud the one who did this.

Overall, a nice find which helps make the deal feel more than fair.

Huh. That is a decent Big Lob. The numbers look a bit off center but the rest of that custom is really well done. I'm having a hard time placing the parts on him and to me that is always a sign of a good custom. I've never liked customs where you can see where the body parts came from.

Good find!

Dodge: It's a little too late a PSA...

Pdaat: Alright, what will it take to get Big Lob back from you? PM sent.

LJ - the PM you sent - you weren't serious were you?  $5?  This is a nice figure and fills in a bit of a gap for me.  $5 is way too low.  If you are serious, I'm thinking more along the lines of $50.  It would also help recover some of the loss I took with the Defiant.

LMK.

TRacker torso, Heavy Duty arms. Legs I'm not sure, wouldn't be that tough to figure out. The head my only guess is Street Fighter Movie Guile, but if that's the case the paint job is amazing.

Cool custom.

Since you took my PM to the boards, I am taking it here too big boy  ;) !

You speak of "loss". You have no idea what losses this Big Lob represents to me.

It started many years ago when I was to buy something from Grunt for a few bucks. He then told me he wanted my Big Lob, so broke ass as I was I  accepted to give him my custom in a trade with him. Dodge who was visiting Montreal at the time accepted to deliver it for me to Grunt4mvp. But some way along the way back home, he LOST Big Lob. And then, as he was trading with another fellow canuckeer, it popped up again in a vehicle Dodge sold to someone. Only that someone was at least KIND enough to return it to him. So Big Lob was on its way to Grunt again until Dodge managed to lose him again. And now it shows up in your newly acquired Defiant.

Speaking of which, I think I have a friendly solution: It so happens that I gave Dodge a Defiant shuttle complex for his birthday a week or so ago (I was hoping not having to mention this on the boards but I don't seem to have a choice now do I?). Mine IS in fair condition. You can swap with him for your crappy one and call it a day.  Everyone will be happy and you should no longer need to keep Big Lob.

Are you sure that's not Bulletproof's head?

Does your Defiant has a yellow stain on a payload door and the number "22" engraved on the bottom?  I'm guessing I already have your Defiant........ ???

Dodge, when I gave you my Defiant: what happened to those tears of happiness you shed when you first saw it? And what about the promise you made not to sell it before yours in case of an emergency??? You told me that it was one of the most unique Defiants you've ever seen!

Gentlemen, this conversation should return to PM. That was a much more appropriate place to discuss this matter. This is not a warning, no one is breaking any rules because I would not consider anything here a personal attack. It is just personal, and therefore better off exchanged in private.

Can't agree more. I should know better, sorry guys, my latin emotional side got me carried away. This happens often to the best of us, especially when a holy grail like the Defiant is concerned. Dodge and I are supposed to be going for a friendly beer next week anyway. Pdaat you got a PM.

Well pdaat, PM'd you!
That is actually mine (paid & traded for) which was lost en route to me.  Hoping you'll not misplace frustration on me.

I hope everything works out fairly for everyone.

April 1st, seems as good a day as any for me to officially decide something thats been a long time coming...
Now that three friends and top-notch guys are arguing over a custom, I've decided to leave the hobby. It's just not worth it.

Actually, April 1st specifically, is the perfect day for such an announcement.

So now I see I was being fooled. I couldn't believe such calm guys were so fired up. What an epic conclusion to a two year long lost figure....assuming he ever finds his way here.
As the person who was the most confused, the least aware, and the most uncomfortable by all this, I hope no one was offended by any of it, most of all pdaat, who really had me befuddled.
I'm still not sure what's going on.
Am I getting a free Defiant out all this? is that what just happened?   ;) If not me, than p-diddy deserves one. Even a yellow one. It'll nicely contrast his blue singlet...

These posts were very drama filled and confusing. As a new member, I wasn't sure what I'd gotten myself into. :)

Man, now I really have to stand for a friend, Grunt....he's done so much for me since i started this site...I made a true friend and it all because of this site. If this is April fools or not, it is long standing foolishness. Man, to the dudes who duped grunt, u need to settle this in his favor. We also now have a new member reading all this and is thinking twice about the site and what is going on...when that happens, plus my buddy grunt being confused, that goes way beyond and silly joke...just think about it and put yourself in the other persons shoes, if you are going to do something be like the awesome dudes that are on here and do what you say....responsibility, and that seems totally lost here in this mess. I'm still new to this site and i have to say I am also let down. Dudes have a Happy Easter and DO what you know is right. We are JOE bro's on here helping each other not messing around with another persons ownership of something and then having that person leave the passion and collecting...I'm still standing and this will work out, as for my friend Grunt, man...let this settle man, and don't leave the site,...you started me out on here and been an awesome friend....just wouldn't be the same...

Well, LJ's terribly conceived April Fool's prank continues to be a headache.
LJ's a great guy (as are pdaat and Dodge), just tried to make a poorly executed joke.
Let this very confusing thread die..no more posts...lock it or better yet delete it as I'm sure LJ would like to.
