Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / The MOC Version of the Figure.
« on: February 10, 2004, 10:30:44 AM »
Hey,

I also take offense to being called a liar by you Colin.  I, and about 4 or 5 others were in the room for the entire time, and with us only being 15 feet awy, it was easy to hear everything.

Yes, Mike was upset.
Yes, he yelled.
Yes, he threatend to kick at your knapsack.

But I KNOW that he never once said that he would touch or hurt you personally.  Not once did he cock his arm back or make a fist to imply that he was going to hit you.  I think everyone who knows Mike can confirm that it's not in his character.  Taking a kick at a knapsack, maybe, since he was so upset.  But punching someone?  Only if it was over something a hell of a lot more important than a toy. Otherwise, why risk the assualt charge?

Also, as stated, Mike did not cause people to leave.  Some left before he started talking to you, others left during (and they were leaving anyway, as they had already taken their stuff out to their cars), and the rest of us were sitting by the video game.  Your freind Blake, as I recall, spent the majority of this time standing in the hallway just outside the room, as I passed him when Mike asked me to go get Deadshot (who was outside having a smoke).

I also heard and saw you and Mike shake hands at the end of the confrontation, and assumed that all parties were fine with the offer that Mike put on the table.

Also, as we all know, your Mom was not there, and although I expect her to support and stick up for you, her opinion is biased, and therefore, without any credibility.

You don't know me, I don't know you, so I'm not expecting an apology from you.  However, Mike deserves one.

Mike apologised.  Deadshot posted the truth.  So should you.
Make it right.

Speaking as someone who was present for what went down...I did not hear any "threats of bodily harm".

As for "several people leaving due to the screaming"...some people had packed up their stuff and were getting ready to leave anyway...we had just taken a group photo because of this, and once the picture was taken, they headed out.

i also understand that mike offered to "make it right" and everone involved decided it was an amicable solution.

I agree with Damed Viper...at this point, it's not worth it...live in the now.

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Post-Joe Meet...my thoughts
« on: February 08, 2004, 01:30:07 PM »
First and foremost, a special thanks to Mike, Pete and Loop for the passion, the  planning, the organization, and the follow-thru.  I had a great time, and for me, it was kind of a new experience.

I collect toys, eighties stuff in particular...keep what I like, trade or sell what I don't.  I've never really been a Joe collector.  The toys I have from when I was a kid ARE my collection.  I don't much care for the new stuff.  I am not a customizer, and although I'm blown away by some of the work I see on the net, it's really not for me.  So I guess I'm a casual Joe fan...read the comic, watched the cartoon, and played with the toys.

Last night, I met some people who share fond memories from years ago, and a passion for keeping thiose memories alive.  I traded for a couple of figures that I wasn't able to get 20 years ago, got some weapons that helped complete a few figures, and generally had a ball.

The best part:  Noticing the respect people had for other people work and property...I mean, when was the last time you were at show, and felt you could leave all of your stuff unattended while you went for a look at another table?  Also, the kewl exclusive figure. (I hope to get one next year).

In closing, ( Sorry for rambling) a great idea, nicely executed.

Again, thanks to the guys that made it happen.

Cheers!

Although I don't collect Transformers, I have it from a reliable source that you can bring non Joe toys to trade as well, which is pretty kewl.

With that in mind, who wants first dibs on my Snorks pvc collection?

The \'Show\' Room / I suck...

Hey there!

Looking at the haves/wants of some of y'all...wow!  I'm looking for almost everything as my collection is quite small (limited to 69 figures and about twenty vehicles and playsets)  I scour flea markets and yard sales for new adds for my collection, and have found a few here and there, but have mostly found vehicles in various states of disrepair, many that I don't recognize.  I'm sure you guys will, and it might be something you'eve looking for to complete or to customize.  I'll also bee bringing a few figures, waepons and booklets (catalogues, premium offers) that have manged to survive the last 20 years.  All in all, I look forward to meeting everyone and getting back in the swing of Joe collecting!

Cheers!
