JoeCanuck Trading Cards / New Trading Cards?
« on: February 06, 2012, 11:53:19 AM »
The Trading Card set ended at #20.
Would you guys be interested in having that set continue onward?

Thus far, we'd be looking at another 24 or 25 cards to go in the set.
(12 photo, 12 artwork, checklist #2)

If there's not enough interest, then we'll just let the set end at 20 as it's currently at.

I should mention, if this does continue, some of the earlier cards will be reprinted as well.

Message Board News / The JoeCanuck WIKI is back online!
« on: January 27, 2012, 04:44:03 PM »
I'll fully admit, I forgot about it, and never went back to fix it after our server issues last year.

So, it's up.... and uh, needs to be SERIOUSLY updated.
Any volunteers?... Looking for one or two folks to transfer the info from the comics, filecards etc from the last couple of years exclusives onto the site and link them up with all other mentions within the wiki itself... Because I'll be honest, if you guys are gonna wait for me to get around to it, it won't be until after the 2012 con at least!

Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
Mike

Items Wanted / Star Trek figures needed
« on: September 05, 2011, 11:16:50 PM »
I'm in need of a Picard (not 1st season uniform or Movies) and a Sisko (First Contact outfit).

I can pay via PayPal, but would rather trade (I have tons of weapons, figures, etc)

Need both loose, stands/accessories, etc not needed.

They should resemble the ones below (NOT the Playmates Toys ones).

Message Board News / Hasbro Q &A : Round 4 ANSWERS!
« on: September 02, 2011, 03:02:38 PM »
We got TWO questions answered this month!

JOECANUCK.COM ASKED:
1) Going into San Diego Comic Con, word was Hasbro had learned from "Slaughter-gate" and taken measures to ensure fans who wanted Zarana and the exclusive Starscream / Skystriker could get them. What are some examples of the measures taken and how do you feel they worked?

HASBRO ANSWERED:
1) The challenges that we had with the Sarge last year were a result of accidentally selling the online inventory at Comic-Con and not having enough to sell online. The goal has never been to ensure that all fans that want an exclusive are able to get it, otherwise it would negate the ability to call it an exclusive. We always offer a limited amount of SDCC exclusives online after the show and we worked very hard to ensure that the number that we called for the show and for online were in line with historical sales data. We believe that calling the correct number and correctly allocating the online inventory solved the problems that we experienced last year.

JOECANUCK.COM ASKED:
2) Renegades is gone and the new movie won't be out until next year. What's Hasbro's marketing strategy to keep GI Joe in the public eye and to keep kids interested in the brand?

HASBRO ANSWERED:
2) Our plan is to continue to release the remaining figures for the 30th line. The movement of the movie timing has just put a bit of a crunch on our development schedule. However, at this time we haven't cancelled any figures other than the ones previously announced.

Message Board News / New (old) board format and some items of note.
« on: August 14, 2011, 01:23:25 PM »
Before anyone says anything, the colour is temporary. ;)

We're back to using the old style board format. I personally prefer it, and I like the many add-on options available with it.
You'll have to change your password to log in. This shoud only be a one-time thing, but you may have to do it again later on. Also - I want to hear the cheers when you all see the MODIFY YOUR POST button. Why that other board style didn't have that option is beyond me. Lame.

Let's cover a few things.

First.
We gained nearly 100 users on the other board format, about 90 of them were all spambots. That didn't happen here.

Should it happen, safeguards are now in place with this current version. New members will have to enter a code, and answer a pre-set question that I've set up before they can register. Once they do register, they'll have to do it for a couple of their first postings and PMs. This way, should a spam-bot get in, it should make things harder for it and delay the crap that comes with them.

Second
The "Titles" for board users are messed up. Those will be changed as time goes on. Truthfully, it's a pain to change each one manually -but they will get done.

Third
I'll be shutting off the "non-server" avatars. You'll have to use one that is hosted here - and I'll welcome any suggestions for new avatar sections to be hosted here.

Fourth
Staff situations have changed at JoeCanuck.com. Currently, Stealth Viper and myself are Administrators, while Pete The Greek and Scramble are Global Moderators. Loop is still on staff for the CanJoeCon, and Moderator - once I fix that.

Fifth
The newsletter is officially retired. In the May issue I stated it would be going to a bi-monthly format - and here we are in August. No one (besides 1 board member) has submitted an article, no one has mentioned in on the site, and not one person has mentioned it to me directly since then. That doesn't mean you're not encouraged to post any articles, reviews, comics, or whatnot on the site - by all means, please do. Chances are we may even take some of them and put them in a special CJC 2012 magazine for the convention. I would like to see the newsletter return, personally, and maybe someday, it will.

Sixth
The site is going to start something new in a couple of weeks (if all goes well). We'll be offering up T-Shirts on the site and other items geared towards JoeCanuck and it's characters. They will be made to order only - so once they're gone - they'll be gone. I'm still working out the specifics of it. But in the meantime, if you have any suggestions of things you'd like - feel free to start up a thread and post your suggestions. My "Pac-Man Snake Eyes" shirt will be the 1st thing offered up. Some of you have seen this shirt at the CJC this year. Stealth's wife loved it so much, she bought my extra one!

That's all I have for now. Enjoy the new (old) format, and hang tight while I slowly get it looking like it once did.
Thanks!
Mike

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Questions about CJC.
« on: June 14, 2011, 06:22:15 PM »
Not that I need to add to my workload for this week - but if anyone has any questions pertaining to the con this weekend, please post them here.

One of the staff should be able to answer it for you, that is - if it's not already posted at www.canadianjoecon.com

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / 2011 CJC Debut : CON SET BOX
« on: June 14, 2011, 04:24:42 PM »
No real glitz or glamour here folks!
If you have a 2009 Con set, this box is the style/texture of it.
That fake leather look, with the date and location of the convention - showcasing our new JoeCanuck/ Canadian Joes logo.

Also half as thin.
