Off Topic / Fantastic Four Figures
« on: July 16, 2005, 09:19:54 AM »
I haven't really been looking for these figures - as I know they are everywhere, and they amount of them out there is a good indicator that they will be half price by the end of the month (good move on Mike's part not to order these things)
But I did find all three varients of the Invisilbe woman, and I have to say, that the phasing version really is the best.  That is the way that Marvel Legends should have done the box set.

I am however looking for the Movie Box Set that has the marvel Legends figures in it, only repainted, Thing with TrenchCoat, Clear Johnny Storm, and repaints of Reed and Sue.  I am not even sure if they are going to make it to Canadian  stores, as TRU still has some of the other box sets kicking around on their shelves.

Ontario / Wave 5&6 at TRU?
« on: June 17, 2005, 08:56:11 AM »
I wasn't shopping for joes today, but I was in TRU and was blown away to see this wave of figures.

I picked up
Frostbite Vs. Snow Wolf
Shipwreck Vs. Electric Eel
Tunnel Rat Vs. Razor Claw
and from Wave 5
Cobra Bat V3.2 and Cobra Batv4

The only two pack I left behind was the Sgt. Bazooka and Torch (I already owned it)
The other strange thing was this was all the joe figures they had on the pegs.  This blows my mind as these figures I didn't think made it to Canada, and then only bits and peices from the different waves.  It was in Brampton and they were 12.99 per Two Pack.

Anyone else seeing these?

I was just wondering if anyone had seen these at retail yet?  I am a big fan of most of the stuff ToyBiz releases (minus all of the hulk movie toys)

Off Topic / SpiderMan SandMan
« on: May 20, 2005, 10:56:36 PM »
Found one today at the TRU at the QEW and 427, also in this set was the re-issue of venom and the lizard from several waves ago.

SandMan is great! Could have been released as a Marvel Legend he is that great - no gimmicks other than interchangeable arms - attention to detail on this figure is top notch.

Ontario / Ninja Lighting and others
« on: May 20, 2005, 10:54:59 PM »
At the TRU at the QEW and 427, they had a bunch in stock, $15 bucks per set - I like this set of repaints - however the ninja bike kind of sucks, not really cool for a joe to be lying down on a motorcycle- just doesn't do it for me.

General Joe Talk / Vehicle Part castings?

I saw a posting for a flag for sale on this board, and got to thinking, are there any sites available for some of the impossible to find parts for the larger vehicles?

Flagg Mast cap?
Flagg rear deck railing?
etc.?

Off Topic / Marvel Legends Wave 9
« on: March 15, 2005, 05:41:58 PM »
Wow- is all I can say, this really is a great set of figures - I only have minor complaints about some figures, but overall this was the best luck I have had with a complete set from the very beginning.
I have always ended up with some goofy figure with two left arms - seized hips-arms-legs, crappy paint jobs etc.

But this wave is really near perfect.

My only real complaints are Hulk is kind of lame in terms of his articulation.
Dr. Strange's hands are posed funky.
War Machine's fire stuff is flimsly and doesn't really stay in place.

Again, these are all just minor complaints.

Here is the just a brief description of the good...
Galactacus was a tonne of fun to put together - saved Prof X to open till the end, simply to put big G's head on last.
Bullseye has individual movement on each of his fingers.
NightCrawler is like he just popped out of the comic - all the fingers and toes move indipendently.
Dr. Strange's cape is an action figure on it's own -massive and flowing.

Big thanks to BountyHunter Mike - for getting these sets for me - makes my life so much better not to have to fight to find them at ToysRus.

-Sorry for the people who read JoeCustoms.com as I am cutting and pasteing this over there in one of the threads already going.

Off Topic / Spiderman villians
« on: March 14, 2005, 08:23:34 AM »
Over the weekend I was amazed to find some of the villians from the spiderman line that have been out in the US since well before Christmas.

Scorpion - is a great comic version of this character - not a huge fan of the spring loaded tail feature, but it can be overlooked - and doesn't really take away from the appearance of the figure.

Lizard - don't know if I am a big fan of the new comic book version of the lizard, but this figure is a great rendition of him - looks perfect to the one pictures in the comic that comes with the Marvel Legends 8 figure Man-Thing.

Now, to find Sandman, and I am loving the way Mysterio looks - and no goofy built in action gimicks on either of these two.

Ontario / Tumble Weeds are blowing by.
« on: February 13, 2005, 08:24:01 AM »
Here we are, the middle of February, and I have not seen a single joe pack on the shelves at either ToysRus or WalMart since before Christmas.
I only found part of Wave 4 on that day anyway, it was like the ToysRus I was in only had 1 case to put on the shelves.
I also can't find any of the new Transformers Alternators.

I know this isn't much of a sightings post, but I thought after a dry spell of nobody posting, it would be nice to see that I am not the only one, or maybe it is just me, and I am not looking in the right places.

Off Topic / Helping finding a Toy
« on: November 18, 2004, 07:07:24 PM »
it is from the Playing Mantis Toy Line / Memory Lane
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer 16" Abominable Snowman.
He is in scale with the 6" toyline - if I can find a link with a picture I will add it.

I can't seem to find it at any shop in the GTA - was just wondering if anyone else had any idea where I might look for this guy - before I go to US online stores.

Toysrus.com, and KBToys don't offer the figure so I would have to be looking at specialty shops in the US - and I am not thrilled about giving at my credit card number to a place I have no way of getting references on.

Thanks
