General Joe Talk / I got my first Funskool figure!
« on: June 05, 2006, 10:39:24 AM »
I was never really interested in these because of their substandard quality, but MIP they are awesome!  from a moderate distance, I don't anyone but a hardcore collector could tell they aren't North American.  Other than the giant Funskool logo near the bottom :)  I got my MIP Funskool Airtight for $8.  The guy at the flea market said he had more earlier, but I rarely go to the market these days, so I missed out.  Still, if I ever get the chance to pick up more MIP for cheap, I'll do it.  They are definitely a cool display piece!

("Take It" - should play automatically)

Please let me know what you think! Don't be too harsh on the singing though...I've been hacking up a lung this whole week :) Figures that I'd get sick on my spring break from work AND school...and with studio time pre-booked as well...  :( Ah well..."Murphy's Law" and all, I suppose.

General Joe Talk / New comic packs - didn't want them before and now I do
« on: December 11, 2005, 08:40:23 PM »
I really wasn't planning on getting the newest comic packs (#26 & DD #16) but after seeing them at yojoe.com I do now.  The LRRP team looks pretty darn good, especially Stalker and it'll be cool to have an unmasked SS and SE.  And I really like the new-mold Cover Girl figure.  More money to waste...

Items Wanted / TRAHC Wave Crusher
« on: April 25, 2005, 08:09:19 AM »
I'm looking for a 2001 Wave Crusher, preferably unopened.  I have a TFC-10 Soundwave reissue for trade (opened and stickers applied; still mint and all packaging complete).

General Joe Talk / Customizing Joes
« on: December 05, 2004, 12:22:42 PM »
Anyone know of any good sites that cover Joe customizing?  Like going through the basics of how to do it, not just pics of people's creations.  I wanna know stuff like how to remove paint and doing sanding and priming etc.

From reading various reviews and such about modern Joes, it has become apparent that I'm not the only one who thinks the weapons/accessories included with the figures are pretty lacklustre overall.   I think it actually started in 93 with the Battle Corps uncut-sprue thing.  As for the newer stuff, I find it is possible to add some life to a figure with the proper equipment - for example, VvV Tunnel Rat was a really boring figure to me until I gave him Wide Scope's gun.  And, Alley Viper II was heading for complete obscurity until I gave him that big double-triggered Cobra assault rifle and Torch's backpack (the black one that came with w3 VvV BAT - yeah it doesn't make sense but it looks cool  ).  Now, it isn''t the greatest figure by any means, BUT it does look better to me and I feel now that I didn't completely waste $5 on the figure.  Basically I think a lot of the newer figures, especially "troop"-type figures, can benefit from a decent weapon/backpack look.  For the original ARAH figures, especially the earlier ones, their equipment was part of who they were, like 83 Gung Ho or Tripwire and the figure wasn't really complete without it.  Since the new stuff doesn't always come with specific accessories (a lot of it seems just tossed in) it becomes necessary to equip them ourselves and recreate the feeling of the (usually) uniquely-accessorized originals.  Any thoughts?

Items Wanted / I need lots of Battle Stands
« on: October 10, 2004, 04:47:37 PM »
As the VvV/Spy Troops figs did not come with battle stands, I am in need of several of these useful but oft-forgotten pieces of plastic.

I am aware that there are slightly different peg hole sizes, at least on the original ARAH run (either they got bigger as time went on or decreased; regardless, it is possible to ruin a figure's heel if the battle stand peg doesn't fit properly) - I am not sure if this would affect the slightly rubbery plastic of the newer Joes/TRAH Collection Joes.

So basically a batch of maybe 50-75 misc. battle stands is what I'm looking for, any help is appreciated!
