This isn't the same crap hole at Yonge and Wellesley that is primarly used for PC gaming use?  If so, that place does suck and blow at the same time.

That is indeed the place. And if you think that place sucks and blows, I's sure as hell stay away from the place across the street. ;-) '

Retro Fun a.k.a. Toy Scalpers "R" Us is a novelty shop in Yorkville. (one of the chic neighbourhoods in Toronto - near Bay and Bloor) While they still have a lot of funskool Joes, they also will sell you Marvel Legends for about $40-$60 each, novelty action figures (Oscar Wilde, Mozart), X-Files dolls, Austin Powers etc. etc. Also at the store is imported candy and lots of gizmos and doodads. (dancing hamster dolls, mugs, refrigerator magnets - they still have Transformers keychains for about $10 each)

Occasionally they get something good in, but for the most part they're a nice place to take a date during the time period after dinner, but before the movie down the block.

Saw these guys at the Toronto Toy show this past weekend - found they wouldn't go $10.00 on a $12.00 item... odd.

Great story - thanks for posting it.  And I know the place you are referring too.

Grey Region sucks btw, they can't even have a computer that connects online (or works) right when you sit down at their internet lounge.

I recall trying to get online, and walking out with one of the workers calling me to come back.  So I did, gave them a Loonie, equal to the cost portion of my actual usuage and suggested they use it to buy a better server :P

i used to go to Grey Region a loooong time ago, before 2000, before all these new fangled figures came out, and it was a blast!

I would trade all my old crap Joes for complete 1982 - 1990 figures.  I occasionally pop inside there to see how my previous collection is doing, and I am surprised to say that I can still see ALL my broken, loose, worn figures on display, in a nice glass case, starting at $14!!!!

The TF Tripwire with Broken crotch & thumbs..mine, the work Slip Stream with no thumbs...mine.

The real kicker though was finding a 90% complete USS FLAGG for $100.
That same FLAGG is now 98% complete!

I think he still has MOC EP1 Star Wars figs for $19 as well.

So it can be said without irony, that Vortex is one of the reasons that they suck?
