Congrats Scrams & Tanky!!!!!!  Finding a good person to spend the rest of your life with is better than scoring the Starduster varient for $10.  just don't have the wedding on Meet day--your attendance is always a must.

Be well, be happy and go forth and multiply.

Thanks again for the support. What's particularly satisfying is being able to place faces to the people posting. It's why I let Joecanuck get the scoop.

We had a couple of questions that maybe the married members or the people that just know a lot about weddings can help with.

First of all, how many ushers is too many? I have three brothers, so if I include the lot of them, I'm already up to four with the Best Man.

On the topic of ushers, is it customary to include the spouses of ushers and bride's maids (ie a bride's maid is married, should her husband automatically be an usher)?

And just general suggestions about a good time of year for the wedding. August is the front runner right now for us, but I'd like to hear others take on it.

How many people do you plan on inviting?
Rule of thumb - one usher for every 20 people.
Denise and I had about 90 people at our wedding, and I had a best man and two ushers....

Nooooooo! With my wedding, by best man (Brian) was married - his wife sat with the guests.

Denises two bridesmaids were her sisters - and their husbands were with the guests as well.

Mine was in May - nice weather - no rain.
I've been to a wedding in Aug. HOT, Sticky, and people sweat alot.
I'd say a late Sept. or Early may would work best. (But that's just me!)

Also, 1 word of advice, do NOT include children in your wedding party unless OVER the age of 10-12.

My nephew was our ring bearer - and while he did look cute and all doing it - he horsed around for most of the actual wedding. He was 4.... so that was our fault.

Go to a tropical Island if you don't want a traditional wedding.  We did-Jamaica everything was taken care of for us..  Just invite who you would normally want at a hometown wedding and whoever shows up is in the wedding. Then have a reception after you get back for those who couldn't join you and have your brothers and best friends say a little speech.
Otherwise don't limit yourself to a small wedding party because someone will feel left out or slighted.
I've seen parties as large as 14-7 on each side and parties as small as two.  But ultimately it is what you guys are most comfortable with.
Best time to get married-Mid to late Spring.
Also, try to set boundaries on who will actually plan the wedding-everyone and their neighbour want to give their two cents and control.
All the best and just keep in mind it's suppose to be a happy day not a stressful one-your union and the celebration of is the most important thing to plan the day around not whether aunt Bertha won't sit with Uncle Gus....etc
